Taking some time to recharge my batteries this weekend, and enjoy a good book!

I just finished Practical Magic, and ready for the next one. I took my time reading it, and re-read several passages more than once. So many messages of hurt and healing, of loss and love. I immediately recommended it to my three girls!

Enjoying the audiobook so much that I‘m listening at normal speed! 😂 I like the political memoirs while on my commute to and from work. Snow coming down tonight, might have a longer commute tomorrow.

Book mail, and ice and snow bearing down sounds like the makings of hibernation!

Audio gardening before it gets too hot! Picking beans and listening to the first part of this book. I‘m liking his sense of humor, this will be a good book to go with these chores.

Yesterday was a day of work around the house, going to try to get a chunk of this read today. In reality, I‘ll read a little then go let the chickens out, pull weeds around our almond tree, check the garden..... but I wouldn‘t want it any other way! Country life for me any day!

I believe it‘s 300° with the heat index, so I‘m audiobooking indoors while I eat lunch at work. I really liked this story. The suspense kept me wanting to listen on my commute to and from work. In the end, it makes you think about choices we make, what drives people to behave the way they do under stress. Gunmen on the loose at the close of day at the zoo, perfect summer read!

Seems like it was taking a long time for these to arrive, so I started a Karin Slaughter Book last night. I‘d better hurry and get it done so I can start one of these! I love BOTM, like Christmas every month. 📚

The best part of the visit was when both of the grandkids grabbed children‘s books I‘ve bought, and climbed on my lap, or Papa‘s, to read!

When I go to Goodwill, I always look for hardcover biographies/autobiographies in good condition. Getting enough to showcase on a separate shelf!

From the first book I chose when I joined BOTM until now. Hubby found a bookshelf for me since I filled our built-ins. Now I can easily see which ones I need to read yet. A wonderful Friday night! 😊❤️📚

Meh..... there was humor, but a lot lacking in making this a story.

There are some frightening statistics in here about what some people believe, and how much made up news was viewed in social media.....but, there is also a sense of optimism. After listening, I feel a sense of renewed spirit, and a duty to make sure this country rises above our differences. I have grandchildren that will inherit what we leave behind, so I choose to participate in making sure that it‘s something I‘m proud of!

This was a quick read, but I don‘t feel that I gained anything. I was hoping for more of a father-daughter relationship story, but most of the story was about Erin‘s struggles with alcohol. I am intrigued to learn more about David Carr. This is what happens when I read memoirs or biographies, it opens up a new chapter of discovery for me. Glad that I read it, but can‘t give it a thumbs up.

Spent $10 on my lunch break, some for me, some for daughters. I‘m happy 😊🤓

Finally got the rest of my gift cards for the bookstore used, adding these to my stack!

Started this yesterday, had to stay up tonight to bring it to conclusion. Not in love with Maurice, to say the least! While reading, I kept feeling like I was getting into John Boyne‘s head.... after a recent success and a novel turned into a movie, is he trying to hint toward a more sinister side of literature? How much is borrowed......how much is his own? He is a fantastic writer, can‘t wait for his next novel.

One of my Christmas presents, just getting a few pages in before bed. Should be a nice change from the on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller I read yesterday.

At times, I thought the scenarios set up in this book were a little unbelievable and the style of writing a little simplistic. That being said, I read the whole book in one day which I don‘t normally do! It was a lot of “what?” “He didn‘t!” “Oh, no....!” It was simply impossible to stop! Good pick for a quick, thrilling ride.

Spent some of my Christmas money! Got a great deal on these 6 hardcover books, can‘t wait to dive in.

The first book in the trilogy still lingers inside me, but I enjoyed reading this one. Not as emotionally raw, and some of the sub plots seemed to be out of place, but still good use of my time! Starting on the third book later today.

Started this audiobook on the way to work this morning. Indoor walking on lunch break and this book has me giggling inside! I don‘t read descriptions on books when I audio, I just pick something from the library that‘s available. This Delores is a crusty bird! 😂😂😂

I couldn‘t stop thinking about Will and Louisa each time I had to put the book down to deal with real life activities. Just finished this, and feel a little emotionally spent. Wonderful writing, great message of love and living. Ready to start After You next.

A quiet, lazy Saturday morning. Almost half way through and I‘m loving this book! I have the two that follow on my TBR shelf, so I should be set this weekend.

I stayed up to finish this book last night, and woke up still feeling upset. What a heartbreaking memoir, and amazingly difficult journey the author had to take as a child. Children are at the mercy of the choices the adults in their lives make, and I wanted to take each of the kids in my arms and rescue them. Time to choose a different genre now to uplift my soul.

Lunchtime walk! Just borrowed this audiobook from my library.

It‘s Friday!!! Where to begin?

I‘m so glad I chose to start this book Saturday night! One of those books that makes my heart pound with emotion. I hope that every young person reads this book, and can use Starr as their inspiration to use their voices as weapons.

Sunday plans

Listening to this book on this gorgeous Autumn day. Just over the hill is my office. Close, but far enough to enjoy the scenery at this new park/walking path.

I wasn‘t thrilled with Kathy Najimy‘s narration, but I enjoyed the book enough to give it a pick. Dolores goes through a lot in her transition from 13 to adulthood, but the story will make you chuckle at times. When she finally sees her truth, and stands up for what SHE wants and needs, her life begins change for the better.

Loved the storytelling of two families and how their lives intertwined. At the end, the parents all in their 70‘s and 80‘s was most poignant. All of us have the stories we share, the stories that others remember most, and the stories that we try to bury with the past. The relationships Franny has with Fix, Bert, and all the Keatings and Cousins are a part of me now. I will definitely read more by Ann Patchett, this was my first

I finished this audio several days ago, and I just can‘t stop thinking about it. I told my husband, just a single moment of inaction can affect several lives, across generations. If you haven‘t read this yet, you NEED to. The audiobook was very good.

I‘m loving this book so far, but I work in Iowa City and don‘t know about this quote! 😂😂😂 Then again, I did grow sweet 🌽, hubby works on a pig farm, and maybe I‘m a “poet and didn‘t know it”!

Audio canning now. Once the beans are done, I‘ll be audio picking sweet corn! 🌽 Maybe by tonight I‘ll just be able to audio.....resting! I got hubby turned on to audiobooks, he is listening to the same one. I loved the first two, but had never got to this one. Now we can enjoy the same books together!

I always wanted to travel, see things, document with photos. This book made me realize how REAL it gets out there, in war zones, unfamiliar territory. I want to check the book out from the library to see her photographs now that I‘ve heard her story. She has incredible strength, resilience, and passion.

A little audio gardening tonight! I finished the Audiobook It‘s What I Do, then listened to this, then started a Grisham audio. There was a pile of beans to pick!

Saw that someone here recommended this audiobook, and it was available from my e-library. Enjoying some audio puzzling tonight!

This was a beautiful, tender, and sad read this afternoon. Grandpa is slowly slipping away, but still holds some memories that he is able to share with his grandson Noah. A reminder of how life goes on and on, it‘s just the characters that change.

I keep telling myself “no new books”! Here we go again!

Beautiful day, warm sunshine, still water.....I‘m “getting to happy” again! 2/3 of the way through the book, and I can relate to the 50 year old women in the story. The vacation and the book may have been just what I needed.

Trying to relax on vacation, nice drizzle of rain in the background. The book might be a little too heavy for relaxation. Gonna switch to Getting to Happy by Terry McMillan. Just want to zone out for a few days....
