Judging a Book By Its Lover
Judging a Book By Its Lover | Lauren Leto
12 posts | 14 read | 15 to read
Leto is as funny as she is well-read; a delight for bibliophiles and wannabes alike. Wylie Overstreet, author of The History of the World According to Facebook Lauren Leto, humor blogger and co-author of Texts from Last Night, now offers a fascinating field guide to the hearts and minds of readers everywhere. Judging a Book by Its Lover is like a literary Sh*t My Dad Saysan unrelentingly witty and delightfully irreverent guide to the intricate world of passionate literary debate, at once skewering and celebrating great writers, from Dostoevsky to Ayn Rand to Jonathan Franzen, and all the people who read them. This provocative, smart, and addictively funny tome arose out of Letos popular book porn blog posts, and it will delight and outrage literature fans, readers of Stuff White People Like and I Judge You When You Use Poor Grammarpeople obsessed with literary culture and people fed up with literary culturein equal measure.

I felt like this was a good share after all of the #covercrush and #7days7covers posts. (Which I bought mostly because I loved the title)

"Life happens alongside the act of reading--a story is forever mixed with what we were doing while we were reading that book."

As someone who used to work at Barnes & Noble, we too hate the movie tie in covers. We want you to find your next favorite book or author. We love books. Don't judge us as cookie cutter employees because we work at a bookstore chain.

Umm, guys? Why haven't we all read this? A collection of humorous essays about the love of reading? I totally saw myself in this book and learned a few things as well.

Jillsandypants That sounds interesting! I just stacked it. 3y

Eyelit Thanks for answering the question @MrBook asked @kaysreadinglife - I didn't know the answer at all. I just know bookpeople has been around forever! And yeah, I try to keep it weird (and local) when I can afford it. 😄 3y
MrBook Thank you, @kaysreadinglife ! 3y

Fun and funny at times, but some parts seemed unnecessary and repetitive.

Snarky, amusing assessments of the Big Authors as well as 'faking it' advice if you haven't read them.
