An Infinite Number Of Parallel Universes
An Infinite Number Of Parallel Universes | Randy Ribay
8 posts | 8 read | 5 to read
Four friends from wildly different backgrounds have bonded over Dungeons & Dragons since the sixth grade. Now they're facing senior year and a major shift in their own universes. Math whiz Archie is struggling with his parents' divorce after his dad comes out as gay. Mari is terrified of her adoptive mother's life-altering news. Dante is carrying around a huge secret that is proving impossible to keep hidden. And when Sam gets dumped by the love of his life, everyone is ready to join him on a cross-country quest to win her back. The four quickly discover that the road is not forgiving, and that real life is no game. They must face a test of friendship where the stakes are more than just a roll of the dice--they are life and death.

Charming and a really wonderful debut novel! Some serious issues in a great YA text!

3 ⭐️s even though I‘m listing it as a pick. 😅
This one is hard to rate. I truly enjoyed the story of four friends coming closer together on this crazy road trip. It touched on LGBTQ issues, adoption, divorce, death, break-ups, and both the good and evil in the every day stranger. I LOVED that they were a D&D and Magic playing group. It took me back for sure!
Parts felt a little forced and sometimes the author‘s voice comes across so strongly ⬇️

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm it seemed like he was an extra character. Editing could have been better too.
Still, a book I would definitely recommend if anyone is looking for a good YA coming-of-age story. ❤️

Enjoying some quiet reading time out in the gorgeous cool weather this morning! My reading buddy is very pleased the heat is seeing its way out. 😅 The husband and I still have a lot left to do on the house, but we‘re both taking the time to enjoy the morning before diving in.
Hope everyone is having a great day!! What are some of your plans for the weekend?

Sace I plan on mainly reading a snacking. Maybe taking a nap or two. Your reading companion is lovely 4y
Chrissyreadit A little work, a big cup of coffee and some time to read. 4y

💔💔💔 Dante is my favorite character so far. I honestly wish the book was just about him so far. 😅

I didn‘t know having nice teeth was “indicative of privilege and DATE RAPE.” 🤨🤦‍♀️

GreenGrl87 Not generally, but in this description I immediately knew exactly what the author meant 😂 4y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @GreenGrl87 I mean, I get where he‘s going with it, but still... I don‘t usually judge the moral standing of a person by their dental hygiene. 🤷‍♀️ 4y
Texreader I think loafers without socks is a better indicator of date rape. I guess it depends on one‘s experience with people. 4y

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @Texreader 😅 I‘ll start keeping a closer eye on people‘s footwear from now on since their (potentially) date rape teeth will be covered by masks. 😜 4y
Texreader @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm 🤣🤣🤣 I worked on a case where one of my client‘s employees was similarly described in the excerpt you posted. I had to do work on his computer. Of all 20-something people whose computers I had to deal with at that place, guess who had the porn? The guy with the sockless loafers! So I am biased. 😬 4y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @Texreader 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 4y
Sace I've gone to school with and taught boys like this and that description seems spot in to me. Color me biased as well. 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I think it's the nice teeth along with all the other pieces forming one big potential date rapist. 4y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I think it‘s just the way it‘s worded that bugs me. 😅 Like the nice teeth are the real red flag and not the several other stereotypically “date rapist” things mentioned in their description. 🤷‍♀️ I dunno, the book‘s been brilliant otherwise. Just a tiny hangup of mine. 😜 4y
