This... was... a strange book. There were parts that were laugh out loud funny and there were confusing parts.
I learned after reading this book that these characters are part of a different series. But this is the first book of this series. So, I found that there wasn't much introduction to these characters, therefore; they were quite forgettable.

The book was okay. I won't be continuing the series.

Looks like this will instead be my Valentine's Day read 😭 I wish they had a print version.

Does anyone ever have the issue where they put a bunch of books on hold but do so on a timeline so that you will be able to read them one after another but then suddenly they all become available at the same time? No? Just me? Okay.

My husband told me to stop putting so many books on hold, as if that will solve all my problems.

wanderinglynn That happens to me all the time! Frustrating! And I didn‘t know this wasn‘t in print ☹️ it‘s on my TBR. 3w

My favorite part about Halloween is the overall vibe. It's just a fun atmosphere and the holiday with the least amount of pressure.

Halloween really sneaks up on me. So I always end up buying a costume. Which is fine for me. It ends up being better than I could ever make it.

I love love love candy. It is a problem.

I think this is going to be my last book of this series. I just loved Alexa so much and I was hoping she would reemerge again. But it looks like she will just be a side character through the rest of the series.
I actually really liked Theo... even with how Type A he is, I think I would like being around him.
The ending was my favorite part. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not as good as Cerulean but still really really good. I was reading this and watching The Good Place at the same time (not on purpose) and it really got me thinking about what this all means. I didn't like the ending. But the characters were all so charming, I can look past it.
I'm curious what tea Hugo would make me. Hopefully chai 🤞

ozma.of.oz If you don‘t mind, I‘d be curious to know what you didn‘t like about the ending? 1mo
The.Great.Catsby @ozma.of.oz thanks for asking! I was hoping Wallace would go through the door. And then, when it was Hugo's time, they would find each other again. I was hoping for some beautiful other side of the door chapters. But instead, he was just made ~sort of~ human. I think overall, it just left me wanting more story. Maybe it was my own selfish desire of wanting the answers, but also, it felt a little unfinished to me. I presume you liked the ending?! 1mo
ozma.of.oz Hmmm… It felt a little bit like a cop out to me? Like, that was the predictable happy ending, but I couldn‘t figure out how else I would have wanted it to end? But I loved the rest of the story so much, I kinda just forgot about feeling unsatisfied? 😅😅 1mo

The.Great.Catsby @ozma.of.oz yes! A cop out, I totally agree. I still wanted a happy ending. But a different happy ending. The book still gave me that feeling of goodness overall. So I'm happy with it. I'm excited to read other TJ Klune books! 1mo

I liked The Wedding Date more. But this one was still good. IMO, most books that are in Reese's Book Club have not been all that great. The book opened with a slap in the face and then slows down. 1. I've always liked to read, but I wasn't really an avid reader until my late 20's. My goal used to be "read 3 books a year" and I NEVER met that goal. Then I read "And Then There Were None". Soooo I'm gonna say, Agatha Christie gave me my love for reading. She's a close personal friend of mine, duh.

This dedication pushed me over the edge. Once I read the acknowledgements. & went back to this... My heart exploded ❤

I had put off reading this book because "I don't like high fantasy." Well, still probably true, but this book was the exception. The characters are so well written, that I sincerely have a strong positive emotional response to all of them: the good & the bad guys. Some of the writing was too flowery for me, but still wow ?

This book was between a so-so and a pick for me... It kept me reading, but I didn't enjoy reading it.
I like Lily a lot. I definitely did not write to Ellen, but I've kept a journal since 5th grade, so I could really relate to that type of storytelling.

I'm thinking that CoHo romance type books aren't for me. Verity blew my mind but this and Ugly Love (which I DNF'd) were just not for me.

Littlewolf1 I would love to hear more of your thoughts. I just finished as myself, but I absolutely loved it. It was hard for me to read at times and I got angry a lot. But I would love to hear what would‘ve made it a better read for you. 3mo
The.Great.Catsby @Littlewolf1 it is hard to describe. I liked the first 60% of the book. Lily was making her own dreams come true and she was starting to heal from her childhood traumas. Then she dropped that casserole dish and EVERYTHING changed. And I know that was the whole point. But it went from this book where I was really rooting for Lily, I loved Alyssa, and even Ryle, to something far different. And horrible. (Cont in next comment) 3mo
The.Great.Catsby @Littlewolf1
Maybe if I had read this at a different time, I would have liked it more. Last month, I read The Last Mrs. Parrish and The Golden Couple and both have domestic abuse. So reading this right afterwards, was just too much. It is just too real and too hurtful. It wasn't what I was wanting to read. (Cont in next comment)
3mo
See All 7 Comments
The.Great.Catsby @Littlewolf1 I got to a point after that casserol dish where I just didn't want to read the book anymore. So that is why I gave it a so-so. Because it was good, and I understand why people like it. It's just not good for me. 3mo
Littlewolf1 @The.Great.Catsby That actually makes complete sense. I knew what The book was about before going in so I was able to mentally prepare myself for it. I think if I did flooded with this type situation prior, I would‘ve had a different take on it completely. 3mo

Where do I even start? This had been on my TBR since it was released in 2017. I considered a DNF many times during the first 50% of this book because nothing was actually happening. When it changed to Daphne's perspective I ate it up.

Many times, I had to set the book down because of how disgusting it was. There are some characters that my heart cannot stand because I hate them so much. Adding Jackson Parrish to the list.
