I am very aware that I am not the intended audience for this. I didn't read it as a kid, so there isn't that nostalgia for me. My older brother LOVES this series and I really just read it because I love him.

I absolutely ADORED the Unhoneymooners. It actually was the first "romance" book I ever read, and it opened my world to a whole new genre.
This was just okay. It wasn't bad at all, but I didn't need an enemies to lovers when the first one was enemies to lovers...
Or maybe, I just like Olive and Ethan more?
Maybe enemies to lovers is my least favorite trope (okay fine, it's actually fake dating). I DON'T KNOW. Just read it.

The very last twist. WHAT?!?!
My least favorite of Freida McFaddens so far, but still worth the read. It does annoy me that she makes a reval and then just ends the book. I need more explanation please.
So far, I've read The Housemaid, The Inmate, Never Lie, and this one. I'm really on a Freida kick right now. Really enjoying her writing and story telling.

I'm really loving Freida McFadden. I haven't read a disappointing book yet!
You knew something was weird from the first page - there was such an eeriness to it. Definitely not a wake up in the middle of the night and try to read a book to pass the time until you fall asleep book.
Loved it!!!

I need to start off by saying that I LOVED this book & series. IMO, DR was better, but this was still a beautifully written story.
However, through the whole book I was just waiting for someone (other than the obvious) to be the villain.
Iris just s u d d e n l y had a bunch of great friends & nothing bad happened. There was no build up. More in comments ⬇️

This book was so sweet.
I couldn't put it down. I loved Emma and Justin.
I love how they both actually talked to each other. There wasn't that annoying feeling of me wanting to shake them and tell them to just talk.
I wasn't expecting that specific fallout.
I hadn't realized it was part of a series when I first picked it up. I'm so so so happy there is more to read!

I started reading this in 2021. I only read a couple chapters, then lost interest. But because my MIL recommended it, I felt the need to give it another try. I recently got Audible and found the audiobook there.
It was pretty good, a solid 3 stars. I liked it enough to finish it, the reveals were unexpected. This is part of a series, but will not continue. 🐪👠

Because this was an ARC from Netgalley, I gave it 50%
The first 50% was fine enough and did keep my interest a bit, but I didn't care about any of the characters and I couldn't keep any of them straight.
Around 80% it finally started picking up. But the twist... it was unpredictable, yes, but not at all satisfying.
The epilogue just shot through the story. I would have liked the author to take her time a bit more.

It was so lovely.

Took me 4 months.
Seriously contemplated a DNF.
@BookBabe2018 convinced me to push forward. I'm so glad I did.
No one told me this would be a friendship book! I love friendship!
In my heart, I know Gwyn and I would be best friends.
I know the next book won't be featuring Azriel as a MC, but I would absolutely love if it did.

A solid thriller. Had me hooked from the beginning. I love a good twist. Frieda hasn't disappointed me yet!

I LOVED this book. I loved all of the characters and was excited to see where this would go. The writing made it predictable in a fun way.
I was curious, so I looked up some octopus videos. And let's just say, this octopus is way cuter 🐙

This is not at all a comment about her life and all of the BS she has been through, because really, it is all very tragic. But there was just something that was off. I cannot put my finger on it.
I recommend instead, listening to the Celebrity Memoir Bookclub podcast episode about this book.

Didn't read the other 2
Read these over Valentines Day and into March. Cute short reads. But, lost interest because I was ready to move on to longer books. I might still read the other 2. We will see!
As an audiobook, I thought it was good. If I were reading it physically... I probably would have lost interest when the POV changed half way through.
I'm glad I stuck it out.
This was a very sweet but also very sad story about love, loss, and growth.
I liked that the ending wasn't how I thought it would be.
This is a soft pick for me.

The first 48% took me a couple weeks. The last 52% took me one day.
I knew there would be a twist (there always is), but I thought it was going to be something entirely different.
All of the characters are awful and I didn't feel like I was rooting for anyone. But for some reason, I kept picking this book back up to read a couple of pages here and there.
Because of how good the ending was, ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

My problem is comparing all of his books to The Silent Patient.
This book was giving me whiplash. I enjoyed every twist and turn. The characters were both likeable and unlikeable. And the setting just sounded beautiful. Such a fun buddy read with the beautiful @BookBabe2018

I'm actually better off than I thought. These are all the unread books on my Kindle!
I think I'm going to like this challenge because my physical TBR is massive and intimidating. This will help me focus in.
Also, how many iterations of the word "wife" can we have? I feel like I have a stack of just "wife" titled books. ?

The pacing of this book was all over the place.
There is sooo much explaining and not enough "story telling". Around 60% something thriller-y finally happened. The ending felt so out of place. Sure, there was a build up to it, but suddenly she... well, i don't want to give it away.
If this wasn't marketed as a thriller, I would have enjoyed it more. But unfortunately, that's not what happened.

This was phenomenal.
The best memoir I have ever read. Imagine me crying while listening to this in the middle of the gym. My heart aches for younger Viola. But man, has she worked her butt off and persevered. Julian sounds like such a delight. 🩷
I absolutely recommend the audiobook.

First book of 2024 complete.
This book took awhile to get into. A little after 50% I started asking questions about what was actually happening to Eleanor. Because it was a buddy read, I kept with it. I'm glad I did. I was surprised by the twist. And the ending was very heartwarming. I LOVE GLEN!

My last book of 2023. Literally finished it at 11:27pm.
Really enjoying this series.
DeRosa puts pictures of the bachelor's at the end of the book. And all I can say is, no.
Demons, Angels, and shapeshifters oh my!

The epilogue was so sweet!
I like Molly as a character. And I also like that she is helping me learn new vocabulary words. I find that I really missed Gran in present day.
I enjoyed The Maid more than this one... The Maid stuck with me for awhile after finishing. This one, probably won't.
If there are more in this series, I likely won't read them. But this was good enough to recommend to anyone who enjoyed The Maid.

At this point, you all know I love being shocked. And this did have some moderately shocking parts.
I care a lot about Leo. Nicole is a lot of fun. Lily is... I think the least interesting.
You ever continue chasing a high after reading a really good book by an author? That's me- ever since I read Unhoneymooners.
Mary Kubica is just good! Idk what else to say about that.
This was a slow burn but completely worth it.
There were sooooo many twists. Each one a little better than the last. I liked the main character, Meghan and I was rooting for her. With the creepiness of a hospital and the dark Chicago streets, I felt like I was there. I felt like I was with Meghan. Which made the whole book even better.
Thank you NetGalley!

A great year in the world of the Haas Formula 1 team. It wasn't as juicy as I was hoping, but Guenther is hilarious. This is in a journal format, so reading this made me feel like I was hearing it all in his voice. If you like Formula 1, this is a great read!

Also, loved the interview at the end with Ash and Alaina.

1. Sweet Revenge-G.K. DeRosa. It was an interesting concept and super well done. As soon as I finished it, I immediately bought Wicked Games. And I never pre buy books.
2. I've been telling everyone that I'm not going to read anything new, I'm instead going to finish all of my current reads. But between you and me, I'm excited to read The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose! I will read it once the library loan is available.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It did give me Turn of the Key (Ruth Ware) vibes.
The big reveal was expected, but didn't make it any less great. The other twists were like music to my ears. So so good. I'm really happy that this is part of a series. Can't wait to read the next one!

I really loved this book. I loved the story and the different types of supernatural beings. Clearly, DeRosa wrote one really long book and then just separated it into different books.
I don't typically reach for fantasy, but I got this for free on Stuff Your Kindle Day and now I'm in love.
I've tried to add it to the Litsy Library with no success.

I don't know about anyone else, but I always get so excited when I find out why the book was named what it was. The reasoning here did actually surprise me.
Not the twisty and exciting thriller I was expecting, but I was invested in these characters and I needed answers.

This was an ARC from NetGalley. It took me 3 months to finish, which should give you insight into how much this book engaged me.
Aurora is pretty terrible. Russ is okay. The writing was hard to read sometimes because no man talks like that. I love Formula 1, but that storyline felt like an afterthought.
I loved Ice Breaker. I loved both Stassie and Nate. Both were very well written characters. But this one didn't do it for me.

I read this because everyone said it was weird and I wanted to know why. And guess what? It was weird.
She's in a cult. But also, in a graduate program. Also, lonely. Also, living in a very scary city. I'm not sure how it ended? But I know it ended.
I mildly hated the writing style.
I almost DNFd this 50% through because I found out why it was weird. But... I... couldn't stop?
Don't read it. But also read it. Idk.

I was really loving this book at first. Adam is so chaotic. When he first had the run in with the police, I was thinking "omg, wtf, calm down" it was very abrupt. These characters were all so unlikable but I was eating up the story.
Then the end happened. I had predicted it, which normally doesn't bother me. But the way it happened was so dumb.
Great book, simple writing, engaging - 4 ⭐️
But that ending knocked it down to 3

This is a soft pick for me. There were quite a few characters to keep up with. The world was very interesting. And the twist at the end had me a little shocked. I don't know why, because I know there is a second book. But, when people were asking me how I was liking it, I kept saying "Hunger Games was better".

1. CAT, 100% no questions asked
2. I love all books all the time
3. I'm still in my Princess Era
4. YES! I like themed ankle socks - size 8
5. Halloween Town - watch it every year. And when I found out they were married in real life, I almost fainted.
6. I love all types of Snickers! Also love, Peanut M&Ms, popcorn balls, and oreos.

It was just okay.
I like the twists. But the story itself dragged on a little too long. It was on my TBR for so long, so I'm glad I read it, but knowing what I know now, I would have been just as happy to skip it.

I think Mary Kubica may be my favorite author. I've seen mixed reviews on this one but I really enjoyed it.
The part... you know the part... it was so graphic. I was horrified.
I cannot wait to read more by her.
I've read Local Woman Missing and now this one. Anyone have any favorites by her?
09.03.23
After reading the Woman in Cabin 10 and In a Dark, Dark Wood, I thought I was done with Ruth Ware - not because I don't like her. I just think other authors do it better. But this surprised me. I really fell in love with Ellie! There were quite a few twists that I absolutely did not see coming. Also, I'd love a book with Jack as the main character. There's more there and I want answers.

08.20.2023
I know this is an unpopular opinion. It was just a no from me. Maybe there was too much to keep up with? Or that I didn't really like any of the characters? Maybe it just wasn't the right genre for me. It was long and did not engage me. Also, it was kind of gross at times.

Amazon Original Stories:
Murder at the Royal Ruby - Nita Prose
The Mosquito - B.A. Paris
People Like Them - Minka Kent
Heart of a Mother - Julie Clark
Slot Machine Fever Dream - Chris Bohjalian
Just A Girl - Alyssa Cole
Quickly devoured The Obsession series- a series of short stories. Well developed characters and story. The Mosquito was my favorite. I didn't like the writing style of Slot Machine Fever Dream.
