I don't read much nonfiction, but lately I've become very interested in learning how the brain reads and processes language, so I picked up these two books and hope they'll be just what I'm looking for!

Ddzmini I‘ve read the left on and it‘s very informative loved it 👌🏽📖😋 3d

4/5 ⭐ This was so good! Exciting, not scary but with some great adventure moments. Great characters, lovely writing, fun amd sweet story. And I totally got a Lloyd Alexander / Chronicles of Prydain vibe. I loved those books as a kid, so that was a nice bonus!

Briary Oh I love Prydain chronicles! Gotta check this one out too 😊 2w

I reached my Goodreads goal early this year! I've always set my goal at 100 books and met it. But this year I didn't feel like I was in a reading zone for months at a time and I set the goal to a lower number. So I'm very happy that I got my bookish/reading mojo back this fall and reached the goal I really wanted to! DNFing books that weren't grabbing me helped. Now whatever I read is like icing on the cake. #bookstats #goodreadsgoal

This was somewhere between a 2.5 and 3 star read for me. I loved the setting but just could not get invested in the characters and the story. I read it hoping I would get into it but I couldn't. I don't know why. It was a sweet summer story but it just wasn't for me

3.5 ⭐ / 5. This was mostly fun and sweet but the writing style didn't always work for me and the storyline with Nina's boss annoyed me.

The #libraryloot keeps coming! I loved Caite Dolan-Leach's DEAD LETTERS when I read it in 2017, so as soon as I heard about this new book, I put a hold on it at my library!

Sweettartlaura It‘s got a small connection to Dead Letters, which I loved. She might be world-building -highly unusual in a straight fiction setting. Enjoy! 4mo
KimmyM @Sweettartlaura Oh cool!! I loved that book, so I have high hopes for this one! 4mo
KimmyM @Sweettartlaura I just finished and really enjoyed it. But I couldn't find the connection to Dead Letters (it's been a while since I read it). What was it? 4mo
See All 6 Comments
Sweettartlaura @KimmyM they go to the twins‘ house at some point. The names have escaped me, so my apologies for that. And it‘s been a few months since I read this, so I‘ll be fuzzy on the specifics. But at some point, the main character finds herself at the vineyard/house where Dead Letters happens, talking to the twins‘ mother, I think, during some party/event/maybe a wedding? Is that ringing a bell? There is even mention that one twin is unaccounted for. 4mo
KimmyM @Sweettartlaura Thank you! I just flipped back through the book and reread the synopsis for Dead Letters and I see it now! 4mo
Sweettartlaura 👍🏻😊. I‘ll be curious to see if she keeps up with this practice. It‘s unusual in straight contemporary fiction, but I like it a lot. 4mo

I feel like this doesn't get a ton of great reviews, and I can see why it isn't for everyone, but I really liked this book. I could not put it down. It was gritty and showed how dark and nasty high school and teenagers can be, but I was so invested in these girls and their friendship (or frenemey-ships).
