The Bard's Blade
The Bard's Blade | Brian D. Anderson
8 posts | 4 read | 6 to read
The start of a new fantasy adventure from Brian D. Anderson, bestselling author of The Godling Chronicles and Dragonvein series. Mariyah enjoys a simple life in Vylari, a land magically sealed off from the outside world, where fear and hatred are all but unknown. She helps her family make wine and spends time with her betrothed, Lem, a musician of rare talent. Their destiny has never been in question. Whatever life brings, they will face it together. But destiny has a way of choosing its own path, and when a stranger crosses the wards into Vylari for the first time in centuries, the two are faced with a terrible prophecy. Beyond the borders, an ancient evil is returning, its age-old prison shattered. Not even the Thaumas, keepers of knowledge and wielders of magic from the outside world, know how to defeat it. Venturing into the wider world means facing sorcerers and thieves, con-men and assassins, but the two will go as far as it takes to stop the rising darkness and save their home

Currently reading/currently crafting. This is a random library find - albeit much better than expected. I nabbed it simply for the title, as I am playing a bard in my current Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Not finding much inspiration dnd bard-wise, but finding lots of entertainment. I did, however, find inspiration in starting a Stardew Valley kitchen towel while I listen/read this fantasy.

Pickpick

What a good book! It's definitely a slow burn, but worth seeing through to the end. The last third of the book, things really picked up and brought everything together. I'll definitely be getting the next book in the series 😊

❄ Winter

🥨 Peanut butter-filled pretzels

💜💚 Purple & green

🌷 I love all flowers, but white roses and lilies are two favorites

🏰 Anywhere magical/fantastical

🫖 Used to be coffee, now tea

🎲 I love any board game, as long as it's got a nerdy/bookish twist. I also love Mario games!

Don't tell my current read...but I took a sneak peek at chapter 1 of this tonight. 🤫

I'm not planning on reading it quite yet but wanted to gauge where exactly it should be placed on the tbr pile. 😂 🤷🏼‍♂️

If not next month - April for sure. 👍
