Loving the song lyrics conveniently placed throughout this volume.

Really good series. Wonderful artwork. In this volume, a girl is kidnapped and the parents think a woodland deity. The police hire a Russian woman who does magic to help with the case. So many twists and turns in this one. I also love the villain woman in the mask. Excellent story.

The comic is another interesting entry in the Rivers of London universe. There are some really nice character moments, and now I know where Maksim came from. Nevertheless I would have preferred a regular novel or novella because 1) nobody looks like I imagined them, especially Nightingale and Molly, and 2) I don't really like the drawing style (apart from one or two panels where the artist was aiming for something different).
Still worth reading.

The second in the GN series that is referenced in ‘The Hanging Tree‘ features the Folly‘s “house guest,” Varvara Sidorovna Tamonina, the Russian Mafia, and a Russian Leshy (in Kent!) - all involved in a kidnapping plot.

We see some flashbacks to prior novel, a crossover scene within the biblioverse, and a glimpse of Lesley‘s life. There‘s a bit more humor than in the last GN, but still not any of B.A.‘s signature interest in architecture.

BethFishReads Ohhhh I bet I‘d like these 6y
