TheLudicReader Personally I hated Verity, but I know I am in the minority. How about something by Thomas H. Cook…that is if you can find him anywhere. He writes literary mysteries. Instruments of the Night or Chatham School Affair are terrific. How about Descent by Tim Johnston? It‘s a family drama with a side of thriller. I‘m Thinking of Ending Things by Ian Reid is a MF of a book. Just a couple other titles to throw into the mix. 😂 3y

Cinfhen Thanks for the suggestions @TheLudicReader I will take them into consideration!!!! I read Descent - it was a solid thriller and the Reid has been on my TBR for a long time. The other author I‘m not familiar with… need to investigate 🤗 3y
TheLudicReader No one knows Thomas H Cook, @Cinfhen and it is my mission in life to introduce him to people because I have read about ten of his books and he never disappoints. Are you allowed to have read your book club choices in advance? We‘re not…that way no feelings get hurt if you rec your fave book and everyone hates it. 😄 3y

DrexEdit I liked The Widows of Malabar Hill. It's a good mystery but not as much thriller, I think. Following the mystery in a country and time period I wasn't all that familiar with was interesting, but I never felt lectured at by the author. the cultural background came in organically. 3y
