pickA comfort re-read from years ago. Some of George‘s older books will feel a bit dated because although they seem to be set in the late 80s/early 90s, they often can feel much more dated than that based on the language and mannerisms she gives her main characters. That said I still enjoy the journey of these longer reads (even if I do want to tell Deborah to stop being such an insufferable sulky pants.)

pickI waited months to read the next installment in the Lynley/Havers mysteries so I could read it in January, and I wasn‘t disappointed. I love George‘s writing immensely, but it‘s the detail and the psychological terrain she traverses that mesmerizes me. A wonderful series, and a terrific book. Not as much Havers in this one though, and she was missed.

Wednesday‘s sunrise!
My #BookSpin list for January! I just finished it a few minutes ago. WHEW. I had to add the book I‘m in the midst of to the 21st slot because it‘s the 2nd already! (How did this HAPPEN?) The final four will probably be free squares this month.
New book journal!
I had plans to do this readathon, but so far I‘m not making much headway! Regardless, I‘ll see what I can do. My original goal was to finish the tagged book, and read two others to finish out my December BookSpin. But my brother & nephew will be here this afternoon for the first time in two years, so it will be adult beverage and football time when they arrive! They‘re leaving Sunday morning though, so we‘ll see. #20in4 @Andrew65
Thought I would finish this before #24in48, but instead it will be my first book completed of the readathon. George‘s novels are dark, but so cleverly written that I‘ll keep reading the Lynley series. Hope everyone is off to a great reading weekend!
