Another Kearsley book, as these are my easy comfort reads, and reading 10 minutes at a time while nursing requires easy book‘s to get into 😄🤱🏻👶🏼

This one was more like a current day mystery based on a historical past, similar to A Season of Storms. I enjoyed the relationships the character made, though I felt like her growth was forced and not fully worked through. Enjoyable story and memorable characters.

I actually started this book a while back, then set it aside, but I counted it amongst the unread when I recently inventoried my bookcase, so I'm ready to go ahead and finish it now, before I begin another series.

After Salvage the Bones, I needed something light to read. Susanna Kearsley is more escapist than literary, but I think her writing is wonderfully descriptive. You can tell a lot of research goes into the writing of each novel.

This was a super cozy and nice read. I loved the main characters and the story was entertaining. It had so much to keep me turning the pages and i really enjoyed it!

It pains me to say that this book was really boring. Kearsley is a beautiful writer, but this was about 90% description and pointless, uninteresting dialogue, and 10% thin plot. This was written in 1997, which I didn't realize until halfway through the book. It explains the lack of character communication (that a simple phone call would fix) and also demonstrates how much better Kearsley has gotten over the years.

Reading this bundle of fun. Light, mysterious, and lots of Chinon, France + a dead queen and vineyard and hot men= win for me tonight!
