A couple with a young child, struggling to stay together, takes a vacation to the Poconos. They stay at one of those all-inclusive lodges designed to entertain kids; overstimulating games and indoor water parks. Reginald is an impatient father and cheating husband. His encounters with other guests show the reader his judgmental attitude and one guest in particular teaches him a valuable lesson.

Meh. Can't say I enjoyed this installment. Kinda dark and a couple of poignant moments, but I didn't really feel entertained by this one.

I read this as part of the Dark Corners package from Amazon. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure it's horror or a thriller. It's about an African-American family's visit to a resort that hosts a treasure hunt for kids. The father is an unpleasant and problematic figure. There are some disturbing images in the story and the author does well weaving in the current political climate. I just think it is more of a character study and not marketed correctly.

I wasn‘t really impressed with this. It does address several social issues, but maybe tried for too many in a short story. It was a little convoluted, and sad more than scary. +6 #TeamHarkness #Scaratlon2020
