This 1971 novel (by Rumer Godden‘s sister) begins with the widowed, middle-aged Meg returning to her country house after a week away in London. All sorts of little things are slightly askew in her home and she slowly comes to realize that‘s she‘s not alone in her own home.
I think this one wins for the WEIRDEST cover on my shelves. 😆😆

LeahBergen @batsy Yes! This is my first read of hers (but I have another one waiting). It‘s suspenseful but in a really cozy, 1960s British way (if that makes sense 😆😆). 4y

LeslieO @LeahBergen I have to read s book published in the decade I was born. One of the few I found on my shelves was a Rumer Godden I haven‘t read yet, China Court. So that one moved up in the TBR 4y
