Saddens me to say I need to walk away from this one for now. It‘s boring me to tears. I‘ve never experienced this with a John le Carré novel before. ?

Shocking, I know. Another le Carré novel for me. My old fallback.
The tradecraft and intrigue is of course fascinating, but what makes le Carre's novels so good (in my opinion) are that the characters are so familiar in so many ways. People who have given everything to their careers at the expense of their personal lives, who continue chasing promotions long after their belief in "the mission" has faded, with advancement up the Firm's ladder representing the only sort of personal progress still remaining to them
Movie afternoon with Mr K - honouring John Le Carre. 🌟. I love this adaptation with Colin Firth & Benedict Cumberbatch #booktoscreen
