Fascinating series.The juxtaposition of murder in real time with archeological murder centuries earlier makes for two extremely engaging books. A team of detectives whose work and personal lives evolve throughout the series,with the archeologist Neil and his crew,create a motley mix of characters.Ellis‘s chapters begin with primary historical documents, & abounds with historical information pertinent to the time period.APD was more puzzling.

kspenmoll (Con) I was confused by its multiple seemingly unconnected threads leaving me in the dark-never would have guessed the ending and how all those threads did eventually come together.TBG was a cleaner read,less complicated and more straight forward for me.I highly recommend this series especially if you have interests in history and archeology.The author ends the books with Historical Notes, in which she explains any connections to real history. Have started A Painted Doom for a group Read on Librarything. Looking forward to this, book 6 in the excellent Wesley Peterson Series. Always great modern day Murder mysteries alongside a historical mystery. Strongly recommend these. Great series for Devon in the #SeparatedbyAPondTour

The usual two for the price of one parallel mysteries combining present day police work and historical mystery, which make this series so compelling
