I HEARD THAT SONG BEFORE
I HEARD THAT SONG BEFORE | Mary Higgins Clark
3 posts | 24 read | 5 to read
When Kay Lansing marries wealthy widower Peter Carrington, she is well aware of the rumours surrounding the mysterious death of Peter's first wife Grace, who was found floating in the family pool ten years ago, pregnant at the time. Kay also discovers that Peter is a chronic sleepwalker who suffers from periodic nightmares. When the police arrive at her doorstep with a warrant for Peter's arrest in connection with another murder - that of a woman Peter had escorted to a high school senior prom twenty-two years ago - Kay begins to fear that she has married a sleepwalking murderer, and she resolves to find out the truth behind the puzzling deaths. But are the two deaths linked? And why does a melody that Kay cannot identify keep playing in her head every time she approaches the family chapel?

Mehso-so

While looking for a book for #booked2023,this one was tagged for #wronglyincarcerated.I have enjoyed the author‘s books in the past, but this one had too much going on for me.Characters barely developed. While Kay is planning a Library fundraiser at the Carrington Estate, she meets Peter Carrington and they marry. Kay‘s father had been the Landscape Designer there until he supposedly committed suicide.Complicated. Stuck with it for the prompt.

Cinfhen Sorry you had to suffer through this one 😟but hurray for completing the prompt 😂 13mo
DivineDiana @Cinfhen Thank you! I‘m all about the prompts these days! 😂😘📚 13mo

Pickpick

When in doubt, pick up a Mary Higgins Clark classic. Soooo goood! She sneaks in plenty of plot twists and turns to keep you guessing whodunnit till the end. This 2007 mystery was also set in New Jersey, my old stomping grounds, adding to the fun. Since the central characters were named Carrington, I couldn't help picturing Dynasty's John Forsythe and Joan Collins in the mix. 😁 Beautifully narrated by the late great Broadway actress Jan Maxwell.

Andrew65 Can always count on Mary Higgins Clark. 6y
Gezemice I gotta give her a try. Feeling like reading mystery but it is a genre I don‘t know well at all. 6y
AmyG I used to live near her. I loved reading about NJ...my old stomping grounds, too. 6y

UwannaPublishme @AmyG Hello fellow New Jerseyan! That's so cool that you lived near MHC. This took place around Bergen County. I lived further south: Exit 9 off Turnpike. 😁 6y
Andrew65 @UwannaPublishme I need to get hold of The Cradle Will Fall as Not Read that one. 6y
