Song of Shadows
Song of Shadows | John Connolly
7 posts | 8 read | 9 to read
Still recovering from his life-threatening wounds, private detective Charlie Parker investigates a case that has its origins in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II in this "all-out thrill ride" (Suspense Magazine). Parker has retreated to the small Maine town of Boreas to regain his strength. There he befriends a widow named Ruth Winter and her young daughter, Amanda. But Ruth has her secrets. Old atrocities are about to be unearthed, and old sinners will kill to hide their sins. Now Parker is about to risk his life to defend a woman he barely knows, one who fears him almost as much as she fears those who are coming for her. His enemies believe him to be vulnerable. Fearful. Solitary. But they are wrong. Parker is far from afraid, and far from alone. For something is emerging from the shadows...

I love when other books mention my favorite author, Stephen King. 😍

Book 13 in the Charlie Parker series. #SeriesRead2021 @TheSpineView

It's amazing how much I still enjoy this series after 13 books. Connolly manages to keep the story new with each book.

This book adds in a WWII story with Jewish survivors, Nazis, and a dark secret. As usual, Parker finds himself right in the middle of it all.

TheSpineView Excellant! 👍📖 3y

There has literally not been a bad book in this series and this one was seriously great 👍🏻 I kept thinking, how is all this linked, then bam - pulls it altogether. Great stuff, the personal side is getting massively interesting but I‘ll say no more for people behind me in the series! I love Charlie a little bit more with each book ❤️

CBee Which one is the first in the series? It sounds like my cup of tea ☕️😁 4y

I own this one, but haven't read it yet. This is number 13 in the Charlie Parker series and I'm only on number 3.

I‘m training for a new job and transitioning to working from home, so my reading has slowed down a bit. I‘m still on the Connolly train!

First got into the Charlie Parker series with Every Dead Thing; followed it in sequence then got muddled with the order with U.K. And US editions and being in Tokyo. Found this in used bookstore and happily getting back into it. Like how Charlie is changing but my heart belongs to Louis and Angel I think.
