Pickpick

Certain authors, for me, exist on their own plane & Wodehouse is one of them. He never lets me down & even books of his that aren't really my favorites, like this one, are still funnier & more clever than the majority of books I read. If you've never read Wodehouse, you MUST! Bill was a typical Wodehouse formula, but he does it so well & with such fantastic lines that I don't remotely mind the fact that you know how it will all end from the ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) beginning.

Also, can anyone tell me how I can possibly have filled in SEVENTEEN of my #BookSpinBingo squares without getting a bingo!?!?!? 😂

Laughterhp I actually have Wodehouse on my Classics list to try and read this year, just one, but what is a favorite that you would recommend? I‘ve never read him. 4y

Lizpixie I have a Wodehouse but never actually read it. Need to get on that!👍 4y
Ruthiella I just started reading some of the Jeeves and Wooster books this month and am a fan! I will definitely be going back for more! 😀 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Laughterhp - I would have to agree with @mabell - it's hard to go wrong with Bertie & Jeeves. My personal favorite is a toss-up between The Code of the Woosters & Joy in the Morning. I also love his not-Jeeves stories like The Girl on the Boat, and his Blandings Castle tales like Something Fresh. It's honestly hard to go wrong!! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Lizpixie - He's just SO funny and frivolous. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Ruthiella - While you definitely don't have to, it's super fun to read the Bertie & Jeeves books in published order - you get a better feel for the returning secondary characters that way, plus Jeeves's gently snarky reminders of past disasters make more sense 😂 4y
MemoirsForMe Thanks to you, P.G. has blessed my reading life with his hilarious humor. 😊🙌🏻 P.S. Your Bingo cards looks like mine. I‘m all over the place! 4y
Clwojick I‘ve never read him before. 😱 4y
Laughterhp Haha well that‘s good to know! I hope I actually read classics this year, but we‘ll see!! 4y
Ruthiella @TheAromaofBooks I understand! I‘ve read books 12, 13 & 14 now and really see the progression in just these three. For sure I‘ll go back and start at the hilarious start! 😁 4y
TheAromaofBooks @UwannaPublishme - I'm so glad you've been sucked in the Wodehouse world as well - he's just perfect for a little palette cleanser when you've had way too much of real life 😂 And yes, I think filling in square EIGHTEEN is finally going to give me ONE bingo! How is that even possible?!?! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Clwojick @Laughterhp - he's well worth a read (although I'm not sure how well he would work on audio, Cassandra, I know that's your thing haha) - I heard someone describe his stories as being about England if WWI had never happened & that's really the way they are - just this golden age that never exactly existed but is an absolutely delightful escape from reality! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Ruthiella - yes, there are several repeating characters, especially a few of the “drones“ and some of Bertie's close matrimonial escapes!!! 😂 4y
Andrew65 Great author. 4y
