Magic, romance, and intrigue combine in this extraordinary novelthe first in the Elemental Trilogyfor fans of Cinda Williams Chima and Kristin Cashore. Publishers Weekly called it "a wonderfully satisfying magical saga" in a starred review, and Kirkus Reviews said it "bids fair to be the next big epic fantasy success."Iolanthe Seabourne is the greatest elemental mage of her generationor so she's been told. The one prophesied for years to be the savior of the Realm. It is her duty and destiny to face and defeat the Bane, the most powerful tyrant and mage the world has ever known. This would be a suicide task for anyone, let alone a reluctant sixteen-year-old girl with no training.Guided by his mother's visions and committed to avenging his family, Prince Titus has sworn to protect Iolanthe even as he prepares her for their battle with the Bane. But he makes the terrifying mistake of falling in love with the girl who should have been only a means to an end. Now, with the servants of the tyrant closing in, Titus must choose between his missionand her life.

Super fun opening to a YA fantasy trilogy that somehow slipped under my radar when it first came out. Not to worry, I‘m making up for lost time! No sooner did I finish this story about the most powerful elemental mage in generations & the prince who needs her help if he is to avenge his family & take on a terrible tyrant, then I went & bought the sequel—I really enjoyed this one & am excited to continue the story.

Meshell1313 Sounds right up my alley! ✔️added to my TBR. 2y

Have you ever come across a book while reading about other books or writing or something book related & thought to yourself, “that sounds interesting” wondering how you missed it when it first came out & then you buy the book & start reading & get so excited about the first couple of chapters & the promise they hold for the entire book that you just have to post about it on Litsy (or tell everyone you know)? I have…😬😂 So far, this one‘s great!

julesG Don't even know why I picked this trilogy for 21 - I know there is a scene where the MCs are in the desert, neither knowing who they are. 5y

Finished my reread and it was once again amazing. I love the blending of the readability of romance and the scope of fantasy of this series. So much fun to read and the audiobook was awesome.

After reading this YA fantasy romance by Sherry Thomas, I have only two questions. What genre can't Sherry Thomas master? And where are my Lady Sherlock books? The downside of organizing your book shelves is the realization that people are not returning your books. LOL
This is a wonderful adventure set in both Victorian England and a magical realm. The heroine is the prophesied elemental mage who will destroy the tyrant of Atlantis.

#HideAndSeek

It can be said that in most novels a certain level of hiding and seeking happens. It's what most plots are based on, hidden facts/motives/emotions/... and characters seeking information/certain feelings/the Holy Grail/... In fantasy novels, I find, there's even more "#HideAndSeek" to be found.

I've had this book out of the library for over a month and I finally crack it open to see it has footnotes...I just binge read 3 books in a single day on Tuesday. My brain is screaming at idea of this right now. 😭
