phantomx @BarbaraBB Esperanza Rising is for Young Readers in grades 6-8. The premise is sad at first, but Esperanza learns about what is truly valuable and essential in life. It's a beautiful book, and I love the gold scholastic cover too. 5y

This book takes place at the Texas/Mexico border, with the protagonist feeling the lure of Mexico calling to him to step foot there.

I tried reading this, but couldn‘t get into it. Probably the wrong time for me to read it.
