I was more intrigued by the beginning and the few fighting scenes than the idea of the romance. Overall, and even when I dozed, it was well written and worth reading another from the authoress.

This was a bit different from your usual historical romance. At the end of the war with Napoleon, Athena is an advisor to Princess Sofia ( in small fictional country between Spain and Portugal) and meets Will, a British soldier returning troops to Sofia. Athena is illegitimate and from England, she and Will fall in love but they must fight for more than just love. Book 1 in a new series. Think I'll read more.

Needed something light to read. Opened the dedication page and saw this. ❤️ #librarian #ilovelibraries
Serendipitously, I have an advance copy of this, just as it's sponsoring Smart Podcast Trashy Books so I'm reading it now!
