I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!) Feel free to join in!

I still have my threadbare copy from the 70s. What I found out from good ol' Wikipedia: “Known as the first modern 'bodice ripper' romance novel, the book revolutionized the historical romance genre. It was also the first full-length romance novel to be published first in paperback rather than hardback.“

Who knew? I'll have to go back and read the good parts (y'all know what I mean). 🤣

LeahBergen Oh, this one makes me think of my Mom! I read it as a young teen and passed it on to her. She loved it and we talked about the characters for years. I should reread it as an oldie. 😆 1h
marleed Omg - I saw this title float by and a rush of junior high (as it was called in my day) memories floated by. This is the only title I recall in the collection of books we catholic school kids read on the sly. We had hallway lockers but no locks so we‘d read then pass the book to the next locker. And this was my sex education ;) 1h

Devil's Cub | Georgette Heyer

didn‘t realize this book was written in 1930s bc of the updated cover.
We have Dominic, a rogue so bad, he‘s nicknamed the devil‘s cub. He wants to run off with Mary‘s sister and she doesn‘t want her sister ruined. She takes her sisters place to protect her, and he does not take being tricked lightly.
honestly wish it focused more on just them and not all family members hunting them down, but alas, & hated that its written in 3rd person

Very Heyer-ish in tone and humor, this book was a great deal of fun, with a likable heroine and tons of fun side characters. It got a little melodramatic at the end, but I was still here for it. 😂

Can't wait to hear whether the rest of you enjoy it!! @mabell @Chrissyreadit @julieclair

Starting this book tonight. I had to do an interlibrary loan to get it because my library doesn't have it. Excited to read a regency romance that is also fantasy.

4/5 ⭐️
A story of a girl cursed by fae magic as a child during the Regency era. She navigates the effects of having only half a soul while being out in society with her loving & supportive cousin. Together they navigate some "meddling hens" during London's social season as they hunt for her cousin's future husband. Along the way they meet lifelong friends, learn life-altering lessons, & find love. There is some clean romance & a bit of magic.
