Doctor Who: The Time Lord Letters
Doctor Who: The Time Lord Letters | Justin Richards
3 posts | 1 read | 3 to read
A unique collection of more than 100 never-before-seen letters, notes, and jottings both by and to the Doctor—correspondence by turns entertaining and inspiring, funny and flippant, brilliant and incredible drawn from all fifty-two years of the show. No one could travel through history—past present and future—as much as the Doctor does without leaving an impression. Much of what we know about this mysterious figure comes from what he does— the planets he saves and the monsters he defeats. But until now we’ve had little knowledge of his writings. These rich and diverse documents paint an extraordinarily detailed picture of the Doctor and include his plea to the Time Lords to help end the War Games, an extract from the written defense he submitted at his subsequent trial, his application for the post of Caretaker at Coal Hill School, his apology to the Queen for missing dinner, even telepathic messages to the High Council on Gallifrey and his famous letter to Santa Claus. Like the Doctor himself, the mood can change in an instant. The Time Lord Letters captures the best and most dramatic moments of an impossible life. You’ll never see the Doctor in quite the same way again.

Anything Doctor Who related is my #laidbackbook read! #augustofbooks @TheSpinecrackersBookClub I love me some DW!!!

bookishbunny I hate to admit that I've never seen an episode of Dr. Who. Not sure why since I know I'd like it. Would you recommend starting from the beginning or with the new series? 8y
Trav I LOVE Doctor Who! There were a group of us discussing our favourite companions and Doctor on here yesterday. Nice to see another fellow Whovian. 8y
Laura317 @bookishbunny I'd start with the new series. Rose is the first episode. Let me know what you think! 8y

Trav @bookishbunny The first few episodes are terrible so keep that in mind when watching. The writing and acting get far better as the series progresses. 8y
bookishbunny @Trav Good to know. I will keep that in mind! 8y

Here is my TBR for August. I hope I can get through them all! @TheSpinecrackersBookClub

Blair_Reads I'm a Whovian but I've never read any of the books. What do you think of them? Do you have a suggestion of a good starting off place? 8y
Laura317 @Blair_Reads I've read a couple of the fan fiction books - I am more into the Big Finish audio productions. Those are really good! I'll try to remember the few books I've read. 8y
Blair_Reads I'll have to try out the Big Finish ones. Thanks for the recommendation!! 8y

Really quick read. I love how they really nailed the tone of each doctor for each letter.
