Let's Make Ramen!
Let's Make Ramen!: A Comic Book Cookbook | Hugh Amano, Sarah Becan
5 posts | 9 read | 14 to read
Playful and instructive, this hybrid cookbook/graphic novel introduces the history of ramen in addition to more than 40 recipes for everything you need to make perfect ramen at home, including stocks and broths, noodles, and toppings and accompaniments. Authors Hugh Amano and Sarah Becan present colorful, humorous, and easy-to-follow comics that fully illustrate all the steps and ingredients necessary. Along the way, they give tips for preparation shortcuts that make weeknight ramen a reality, provide meaty tidbits on Japanese culinary traditions, and feature words of wisdom, personal anecdotes, and cultural insights from ramen chefs like Ivan Orkin and other luminaries including Brian MacDuckston of Ramen Adventures. Recipes include complete bowls like Tonkotsu, Mazemen, and Yaki Soba, as well as components like Onsen Eggs, Gari, and Menma. Perfect for beginners and seasoned cooks, as well as armchair cooks, this manga is an accessible, fun, and inviting introduction to one of Japan's most popular foods.

I adore these authors' comic-book cookbooks! I already have their book on making dumplings and borrowed this from the library to try a few recipes. I made ramen eggs, pickled shiitake mushrooms and marinated bamboo shoots and they all tasted great in my ramen bowl!
