Mistborn: Secret History
Mistborn: Secret History | Brandon Sanderson
13 posts | 44 read | 15 to read
Mistborn: Secret History is a companion story to the original Mistborn Trilogy. As such, it contains HUGE SPOILERS for the books Mistborn (The Final Empire), The Well of Ascension, and The Hero of Ages. It also contains very minor spoilers for the book The Bands of Mourning.Mistborn: Secret History builds upon the characterization, events, and worldbuilding of the original trilogy. Reading it without that background will be a confusing process at best.In short, this isnt the place to start your journey into Mistborn. (Though if you have read the trilogybut it has been a whileyou should be just fine, so long as you remember the characters and the general plot of the books.)Saying anything more here risks revealing too much. Even knowledge of this storys existence is, in a way, a spoiler.Theres always another secret.

I can‘t reveal too much (it is a secret after all). Recommend reading after Mistborn Era 1 for the full affect. 4/5

I liked Mistborn: Secret History but I didn‘t love it. If I‘m being honest, I‘ve never really been a short story person. But if you‘re reading through the Cosmere I highly suggest reading this one after the first Mistborn era. There‘s a lot of important information packed into this one.

Follow.my.read I‘m reading The Well of Ascension right now! I have this book also! I will definitely be reading! 2y

This was a very insightful read into some of the Mistborn and Stormlight Archive stuff that has been going on. I want to know so much more though! I'm super excited to start theorising about the connections.

Just in case anyone wasn‘t aware that Brandon Sanderson is self-publishing 4 novels he secretly wrote over the past 2 years via Kickstarter… 😳🤭🤯

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dragonsteel/surprise-four-secret-novels-by-...

vivastory This story is insane. I have been following it a little this week. By the time it finishes it will be one of the most successful kickstarter campaigns of all time. Plus, 4 secret novels in 2 years. I'm not saying he's trolling George RR Martin, but... 😂 3y
Avanders @vivastory so crazy!! Lol 🧟‍♂️ (not quite a troll…) but I‘m ok with it… I‘m a big Sanderson fan 😁 3y
vivastory I'm pretty tempted to sign up. I'm sure that eventually they'll be released in mass format, but it'd be exciting to have it in the original... 3y
Avanders @vivastory my temptation 💯 got the better of me! I agree they‘ll prob be released in other formats, but those covers are soooo beautiful🤩 3y

If you read the first Mistborn trilogy, you must find and read this. I am so impressed with Brandon Sanderson. This proves that he knows what he's doing. It had me in tears. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My #weeklyforecast looks way more daunting than it actually is. I want to:

• finish MAKING UP
• read “Mistborn: Secret History”
• read THE TWO HOTEL FRANCFORTS
• read LAURA DEAN KEEPS BREAKING UP WITH ME, two vols of TO YOUR ETERNITY, and at least part of JAPANESE NOTEBOOKS
• start BECOMING
• start a novel from my 2019 acquisitions pool, if there‘s time. Maybe DOVES by Maltese & McRae, or THE QUEENS OF INNIS LEAR by Gratton

xicanti Oh, and I‘m currently listening to WESTSIDE by W.M. Akers. When I finish that, I‘ll do THE ART OF COMMUNICATING by Thich Nhat Hanh. 5y

This was a fun addition. I love the extra cosmere clues. But, the story itself was a bit boring in comparison to others in the series. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I read it sooner after I finished the trilogy and was still yearning for more.

5.00 out of 5.00 stars

Entire book dedicated for Kelsier? BRILLIANT!

This book serves as a closure and answers to so many questions about the events from book 1 to 3. This is a must-read for Final Empire fans 😆

Mistborn: Secret History | Brandon Sanderson

"Thievery was the most authentic form of flaterry. What could be more satisfying than knowing the things you possessed were intriguing, captivating, or valuable enough to provoke another man to risk everything to obtain them?
This was Kelsier's purpose in life, to remind people of the value of the things they loved. By taking them away."

I wasn't expecting to love this novella as much as I did. I'm so bummed now that I have finished all the Mistborn books and have to wait for so long till the next Stormlight or Mistborn book comes out. Anyway, this was a 4.5 star for me. I loved it!

This was great! It makes me want to go back and reread the original trilogy so I can piece in my new knowledge. Any mistborn fan needs to read this.
