Stunningly beautiful, melancholic, nostalgic
You don‘t have to have read The Leopard, but it may give more depth to your experience if you have.

I've been thinking about reading this book for a long time. It was a customer of our bookshop whotold me, that if you're interested in Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa and his book, you should read this. So I did. And he was right.
It's not a biography in the traditional way, but a search, an idea, a passion. Price shows us the deepest thoughts of di Lampedusa, as he makes his way to finish his one and only book.

OH MY GOD!! I understand the great book vs ereader debate, especially today...I‘m still never giving up my kobo. I updated and synched it and this happened 😩😩😩RIP. But also I‘m gonna finish this book.
At book signings, people tell Steven Price that they plan to write a book when they retire. (Margaret Atwood‘s response to that is to say she will be a brain surgeon when she retires.) Anyway, Price wrote about a prince who did nothing until the last two years of his life, in which he wrote a masterpiece. #VWF2019
I seem to be on a quiet novel streak. This one is set in mid-20th c Sicily, which gives it a bit of an Elena Ferrante vibe. The central character is a fat old man with emphysema, a real historical figure: author Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. You don‘t need to have read Tomasi‘s The Leopard to enjoy this. All you need is the desire to be immersed in another time & place. I came away feeling melancholy… & wanting to reread The Leopard. #Canadian
He had learned over a lifetime of reading that no word could be the only word, and that art held value precisely because it answered nothing. All it could do was ask the old questions over and over. […] No book made any other less necessary.
Started a new audiobook and a new batch of sauerkraut at the same time. #audiopickling
I was just about to start this when the Giller long list was announced and low and behold, there it was. The description for this one is perfect for me, so fingers crossed. 🤞. I loved his last book called Gaslight.
