3⭐️ I was not prepared for that ending! 😱 It was an okay read for me, but everything clicks after I read the afterword (Spoiler alert❗️Also, save the author‘s note til after you finish reading) - this could be an autobio, told from a childhood perspective

This is actually a REALLY cool list full of "not this, but that"-style #bookrecs ! There are TONS of authors who contributed to the list (e.g. Lauren Groff, Mohsin Hamid). Lots of books by women and POC get featured, rather than the same old "dead white dudes" - surprising since it's GQ! Filled up my TBR ?

Billypar What a great article! I think everyone should be open to swapping from the canon- you don't need to have a consensus that the ones taken out aren't good anymore, but the canon should have a diversity of voices, writing styles, and cultures represented. Side note- I need to reread Catcher- loved it in HS, but I feel left out of the debates without having read it as an adult. Agreed about Blood Meridean- I would swap for others from McCarthy. 7y
