A concise guide to the intellectual, social, and scientific elements that comprise the history and background of science fiction, to the genre's main developments, and to its most significant writers
jessinikkipMy gosh I have absolutely no idea yet... I'm really down for anything though. I dont mind reading something I've already read before5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa@jessinikkip I don‘t have any idea either, and I don‘t mind re-reading something either. But not everyone feels the same....so I thought it best to check in. At least we won‘t all pick and mail the same book around.5y
DragonfairykatsI know which book I have as long as it's ok with you. I honestly don't know many Sci-Fi books. This is a new genre for me.
jessinikkip@Riveted_Reader_Melissa absolutely, I plan on digging through my shelves tonight and coming up with one. Any subjects or anything that are a no for anyone?5y
Dragonfairykats@jessinikkip I would prefer as little overt sex as possible. I like romance and don't mind heat. But I don't need things spelled out for me. Close the door, please!😄 Also, please no harem or reverse harem. 😯 The amount of them out there boggles my mind! And I'm glad you like the sound of it! It's the first of a series I fell in love with as a teenager, 26 years ago 🤗5y
jessinikkip@Dragonfairykats I agree! If I want erotica I know where to find it, and I'd prefer that anywhere but my sci-fi or horror novels5y
Bookish_AFI‘m up for anything too! I will also definitely start searching around my shelves and TBR and see what I‘ve got. Have you guys done #LMPBC before? I‘m a veteran at it now and it‘s great fun ! 😊@Dragonfairykats that book sounds good to me!5y
jessinikkip@whippoorwill815 I have done this before, I just missed the last couple. This is like my 3rd time5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa@whippoorwill815 Yes, I did it 2 years ago with group of all Nonfiction books. And we just repeated with the same group this summer, so I was ready to try it with another type of book.5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa@Dragonfairykats Totally agree there, thanks for bringing that up! I hadn‘t even thought of that and I know it‘s abundant. I immediately thought of...anyone specifically dislike robots, time travel, clones, space travel, something genre specific. 😂5y
Riveted_Reader_MelissaOk here are a few on my to-read list, I‘ll post them individually so I can tag each one. Only the first is a re-read for me, the rest are ones I have not read yet. I read this one a few years ago, but I need to re-read it before I pick up the next in the series. Just let me know if you‘ve read them already or have a preference based on the descriptions.
Bookish_AFI was also thinking of suggesting The Fifth Season! The others you have selected also look good, I actually love space stories! And I haven't read any of those. Besides The Fifth Season, the tagged book is another I was thinking of.
Riveted_Reader_MelissaThey all look good to me, the only one of that group that I‘ve read is Jurassic Park, but I definitely don‘t mind rereading that one either, it‘s been a few years. And on the dinosaur theme, I‘m adding Survive to my eventual tbr list no matter what we end up picking. It reminds me a bit of the British TV show Primeval. Have you ever seen that@jessinikkip(edited) 5y
Bookish_AFI would also be good with any of those! I have read Jurassic Park before but it was a loooooonnnngggg time ago and wouldn't mind rereading it either.5y
Besides The Fifth Season, the tagged book is another I was thinking of.
