Farley was raised to be strong, but being tasked with planting the seeds of rebellion in Norta is a tougher job than expected. Characters should have been more fleshed out - at least for me it was hard to relate to them because there was so little information about them.

This didn't have setting nor atmosphere I prefer, characters worked for military and they had their military missions - it was a bit hard to dive into without some kind of worldbuilding.

After reading the whole story I liked it but while reading it wasn't super intriguing.

TheSpineView At least you finished it. 📚 1y

I absolutely adore it when authors write novellas or short stories that provide more background to their worlds. Finding out about backstory, or global events, or what happens after the story is wonderful!

LitLogophile I love novellas, too! Such a good way to flush out the story 😊 6y
britt_brooke I‘ve read Queen Song, but not this one. Are those the only 2 novellas? I think I‘ll grab this one before War Storm comes out. I don‘t often read series, but I‘ve enjoyed this one. 6y
GondorGirl @britt_brooke Yes, those are the only two novellas. I liked Queen Song better, but this was a really great look into Farley and the rebels. 6y

britt_brooke @GondorGirl Thank you! I just requested it from Overdrive and it turns out it‘s already on my kindle. I must‘ve bought it at some point and forgot about it. 😆🤦🏼‍♀️ 6y

I liked this novella a lot better than Queen Song. It was written better and helped shine some light on the early beginnings of the scarlet guard.

I think it's important to know those characters' life in order to truly get them in the books.

I actually liked this novella and getting to hear more of Farley's story. I'm actually more excited to start Glass Sword.

I'm enjoying this novella more than Queen Song. Farley us awesome and I'm glad to read a story from her POV.
