This was a difficult read due to the MC's risky behaviours and unsettling psychological state. Zaher packs a punch in a small volume, with her chosen themes of statehood and statelessness, inherited trauma, physical and mental displacement, mental health, loneliness and the risks of being vulnerable with others.

It was a fascinating read and I look forward to more from such an accomplished author.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jane Goodall. She was a beacon of light in our dark world. Through her Roots and Shoots charity, she has passed that light onto so many others.

The whole world is a terrifying place with the rise of authoritarianism and fascism. The UK has turned into a sea of flag-shagging ignorance and dangerously misdirected hate and anger. I feel very afraid of where we are headed. Over the summer, a huge number of roundabouts and crossings have been defaced to depict St George's flag. It's funny that people fighting back have re-imagined these by changing them. One was turned into the 🇩🇰 flag, ⬇️

Hi 👋

The last few months have been a real struggle for all of us. I've had a bit of a rest off the socials, and I'm coming back with a plan.
I take great comfort from connecting with and helping others. I'm thinking of starting a new page called #TheLittensSocietyClub as a means to do just that.
Postage has become too expensive, and I miss all the camaraderie of the card swaps. Ideas include an email check-in, ⬇️

Trying to relax after an awful week. So much so, this is the first book I've picked up in 4 days! Unheard of.

Our September read is a 1921 short story, A Haunted House. This was published as a collection by Leonard Woolf in 1944 after Virginia's death. It's up to you if you want to read the whole collection or just The Haunted House.
