Shh! We Have a Plan
Shh! We Have a Plan | Chris Haughton
7 posts | 12 read | 3 to read
Spotting an exquisite bird high up in a tree, four friends engage in a sequence of stealthy plans to capture the bird only to have their efforts comically foiled, while their quiet, observant companion stretches out his hand to execute a better plan of his own. Shoe-ins for my 'narrative for kids, art for adults' category. By which I mean the story is fairly, even cheekily simple, which can be enjoyed by all ages, and the art is particularly stunning. 'Together' benefits greatly from foiling every other two page spread, while Shh! contrasts cobalt characters with a carmine bird. 🤌🏻💋 Love it.

#FallIntoReading Day 14: #MumsTheWord with this group of conspirators doing something sneaky sneaky and failing and ending where they began – contributing to the cyclical nature of a book, with the ending essentially an invitation to start the book all over again. “Shh! We Have A Plan” is an Ezra Jack Kearns award winning RF book and would be great for Choral Reading! In this picture book, four friends creep through the woods and spot a bird high up in the tree. “Hello birdie,” calls the littlest friend. “Shh! We have a plan,” hush the others. The character face different challenges while trying to catch the bird.

Thayes1787 This book has repetitive phrases (UDL 3.2) that students would be able to catch onto and choral read. Choral Reading is a great strategy for students because it helps them practice their oral reading and also builds fluency ESOL #16. This story has quite a few character that students can do crafts with that help with comprehension! — https://www.chrishaughton.com/downloads

RossoS Loved how interactive this book can be. I‘m really happy that your resource provided a variety of hands on activities such as the collages owls on a stick. It sounds messy but fun😂 6y

It's my niece's 2nd birthday next week and, as ever, I'm using it as an excuse to add to her already considerable library. I'm a big fan of Chris Haughton and Bedtime With Ted came highly recommended by my local bookseller

saresmoore 😍 I became an auntie last year and I am chomping at the bit to shower my nephew with books. These are great choices! 7y
Moray_Reads @saresmoore She loves books and since none of my siblings are really readers (shock horror!) it's my bookworm duty to to initiate her into the fold 😉 7y

My 2 year old nephew has this book memorized. He "read" it to me tonight and it was freaking adorable.
