I found a Tim Hortons appearance for @Lindy ! Timbits play a large role later in the chapter, too.
Unfortunately, the book lacks Jackie Lau‘s usual sparkle. It wasn‘t nearly as funny as the previous entry in the Holidays With the Wongs series, and I never got a good sense of either character. Sadness.

This time it was oldest son, Greg‘s turn to feel the full effect of his Mum‘s matchmaking (with lots of encouragement from his Dad and Grandparents & some teasing from his brothers) when she volunteers him to drive his high school girlfriend home for the holidays (they both live in Toronto but haven‘t crossed paths for 15 years) - there‘s a snow storm, a hotel room with only 1 bed & no heating...

If you like forced proximity, friends to lovers, second chance romances, and jelly donuts this is the Christmas novella for you! #romance
