Facehooked: How Facebook Affects Our Emotions, Relationships, and Lives
Facehooked: How Facebook Affects Our Emotions, Relationships, and Lives | Suzana E Flores
6 posts | 2 read | 10 to read
The number of Facebook users worldwide exceeded one billion in August of 2012. With the increase in Facebook users, psychologists have seen an alarming increase in the number of Facebook related complaints from their clients. Dr. Suzana Flores, clinical psychologist, has interviewed Facebook users of all ages for three years exploring the positive and negative features of Facebook and evaluating the effect it has on our lives. Facehooked explores the problems most commonly found on Facebook, including controversial topics such as self- esteem, privacy, peer pressure, stalking, emotional manipulation, among others. Readers are not only provided with the practical tools to help identify and avoid unhealthy behaviors, but also suggestions for healthier interactions on Facebook.

#readingresolutions Face#BookMark Zuckerberg has played a huge role in changing how we communicate. I‘ve been told this book is excellent, and gives great insight into just what FB can do to us, and how to unplug from it.

And I just deleted my FB account today, so I just had to post.

CoffeeAndABook 😂love the irony 😉 And I‘m certainly impressed you deleted your FB account 💪🏻 6y
Kaye I‘m closely acquainted with someone who uses FB to air all her ( and everyone else‘s) dirty laundry. Private , personal business that she spouts on there. I never thought of her as a slow learner sort, so it‘s s bit odd that she doesn‘t get it when people call her out on things she says in there. And how many of those 5000 friends ARE friends ? Maybe 5. I‘ve never been into FB . Not interested. It‘ll bring you down and get your A** in trouble. 6y
wanderinglynn I deleted my FB account over two months ago & I‘m so happy I did. 😀 6y
AmyG I deleted my account. Then I started a new one- I have 2 “friends”. My niece...so I can see all of her children‘s pics and videos.....and my sister-in-law who I unfollwed because she posts utter nonsense (but if I don‘t friend her she‘ll be pissed). I loathe facebook. 6y

Fascinating! Have you ever wondered what our society‘s obsession with social media is doing to us, our relationships, and life? What a cool read and concept to research! Well done! I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in a good nonfiction read.

SandyW I know Litsy is actually taking time away from my reading, while simultaneously making me want to read more books. 7y
Charles @SandyW I know right?!?!? Same for me! Lol 7y

Read this if you're into social media, human behavior, or if you have checked Facebook more than 5 times today. Dr. Flores objectively explores FB's mental, emotional, and physiological effects.
