Honest, frustrating, maddening, and real, you will no doubt read this book nodding and saying, "Yup!" the whole way through, much as I did. Valenti's voice is strong (her detractors will say strident, thus only proving her point) throughout. Her advice on each point could be more thorough in places. I really wish more men would read this but I fear that won't happen. (Plus, bonus Buffy reference!)

In honor of tonight's debate (which I refused to watch), I have started this book on gender-based double standards. Valenti explores a number of these with handy tips on how to combat them. My personal addition would be: if you don't accept casual braggadocio about violence against women, vote for a different candidate.

At work today despite still feeling like crap, but this book has been hitting the spot for me these last two days. Preach it, Valenti! Totally wish I had read this years ago to confirm the feelings I had back then. Would have been so empowering. Just thankful I'm reading it now. #feminism
