This was delightful (but heartbreaking due to radium sickness) that presents itself as a bang-up version of old time radio drama! An elongated conversation between Marie and her friend Hertha Ayreton, mathematician, inventor, and suffragette, makes for a great listen; especially the inimitable voice of Kate Mulgrew.

#WomenInScience #NewYearNewBook @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks A (very) short historical fiction play about Marie Curie‘s friendship with Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. I‘m not sure if it‘s the writing or the voice acting that made this stand out so strongly for me, but some combo of the two made this short piece incredibly memorable.

Amiable I‘m reading a book about facial reconstruction during WWII and there‘s a mention of Marie Curie‘s effort for the war— she created mobile X-Ray vans that could be moved to the front. Such an amazing woman she was. 11mo

Gunderson is the master at highlighting the incredible accomplishments of women. This two-person play is about the friendship between Nobel-prize winner Marie Curie and the electromechanical engineer and suffragette Hertha Ayrton. Both women were brilliant and both fought against the sexism and absurd double standards in their field. The audible production of the play is perfect and I would love to see it live.

#WinterReadathonDailyChallenge #WellLaughAboutThisSomedayWeek is an excellent addition to our national index of happy holidays 😆The last book that made me laugh out loud was this short Audible Original play I read at the end of November. The dialogue and the voice actress were both so bold and brassy, I just loved them! @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES

Andrew65 Now I need to give it a listen 😂 2y

I have a bunch of these short audible originals in my library that were freebies during lockdown & that I‘m still slowly working my way through. Most of them are kinda meh, but things one was awesome! It‘s told through conversations between Marie Curie and her friend Hertha Ayrton, an engineer and suffragist. The dialogue is fun, funny & quippy, the actors voicing the two women are fabulous, & I loved the mix of science & feminism. #NovelNovember

Andrew65 Sounds brilliant, will check it out. Well done 👏👏👏 2y

Mehso-so

4/5 Short 1.3 hr audible story. It was surprisingly moving. Learned a bit. Double checked things in the story and was impressed. Unfortunate there hasn‘t been more mainstream stories on these ladies. Slightly too brief but otherwise good. (I‘ll never look at a portable X-ray machine the same)

Saknicole Welcome to Litsy! Happy reading in 2021! 4y
