The hook was good and the twists were enjoyable. Oona is human to the point she is her own antagonist sometimes. I found Oona frustrating as a character often, but I would recommend the book. 3/5

I heard a lot of good things about this series. Honestly the first book wasn‘t exactly a page turner for me. Picking up the next book feels like a chore I want to put off. I‘m curious, but if the next book doesn‘t do it for me… the following half dozen won‘t get a chance. 2/5

BookwormM The is the worst book in the series it gets a lot better 3y

4.5/5 I loved it as an ATLA fan, but it's way darker and less comedic. Personally I appreciated it. Strong female characters with growth. As a prequel, the author did an excellent job creating a feeling of trepidation and hopelessness (too much occasionally). The story's moral commentary is left open without a strong answer on purpose. Braver than the shows. Manage expectations for the finale. Sequel added to my to read pile.

3/5 It‘ll make a visually interesting movie. I personally liked the first book more. The beginning was jarring and seemed forced. Pushing to get the story into position for the repeat formula from the first book. Mid section was enjoyable and imaginative. The finale felt slightly hollow. Not as invested. Touches on sexual equality/harassment slightly with sadly missed opportunities.

3.5/5 Bit too inspirational for nightmares, so I can‘t say I enjoyed it fully. If you like gritty, semi-realistic, survival stories while waiting to see a train crash - this book might be for you. No zombies or mythical apocalyptic creatures. It‘s basically a crime mystery with the setting of a worst case disaster. Very suspenseful. I greatly appreciate the medical, Native American, LE, psych, and technological perspective/details.

5/5 What a roller coaster. I‘d recommend it but with the heads up that it touches on death occasionally. It‘ll make you laugh and then hit you right in the feels. Very wholesome, tragic, humorous, and triumphant.

LaraReads This was probably my favorite read of 2020. I was late to the party & rave reviews from years before, don‘t know why it took me so long. And you described it perfectly. It made me ache & cry happy tears over and over. 4y

4/5 Short 1.3 hr audible story. It was surprisingly moving. Learned a bit. Double checked things in the story and was impressed. Unfortunate there hasn‘t been more mainstream stories on these ladies. Slightly too brief but otherwise good. (I‘ll never look at a portable X-ray machine the same)

Saknicole Welcome to Litsy! Happy reading in 2021! 4y
