Letters of Ted Hughes
Letters of Ted Hughes | Ted Hughes
2 posts | 4 read | 2 to read
At the outset of his career Ted Hughes described letter writing as 'excellent training for conversation with the world', and he was to become a prolific master of this art. This selection begins when Hughes was seventeen, and documents the course of a life at once resolutely private but intensely attuned to others. It is a fascinatingly detailed picture of a mind of genius as it evolved through an incomparably eventful life and career.

I‘m wondering about the contents of the unreleased files from the Ted Hughes library. 🤔

tpixie Intriguing!! 6y
LauraBeth @tpixie I know, right? I stumbled upon it and wondered how many folks realize there are still restricted documents for that estate. (edited) 6y
TrishB Probably more affairs Carol didn‘t know about! 6y

LauraBeth @TrishB Ted Hughes needed a Ronan Farrow investigation! 6y
TrishB @LauraBeth absolutely👍🏻 I don‘t know how Carol put up with him. I can only assume they‘re hurtful to her as they‘re not sealed due to his daughter - she‘ll still be around. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa That‘s not guilty looking at all right! And hey, maybe they are about her and he doesn‘t want them Released while she can deliver her own rebuttal. Some kind of, I‘m getting the last work no matter what! 6y
LauraBeth @TrishB wonder if there is any speculation about any sealed Plath material in there? 6y
LauraBeth @Riveted_Reader_Melissa one thing is for certain - the world may be given a new biography in late 2022 or in 2023! 6y
tpixie @LauraBeth right! Will have to remember to check those sealed documents out! 6y
TrishB Absolutely 👍🏻 thinking about getting ready to write that book..... 6y

This huge tome has been on my shelf since last Christmas. I'm keen to read it but it's too big to read comfortably in bed! Also a little large to carry around. So I've decided to read it in chunks.
