DI Luc Callanach is in Paris liaising with Interpol, as he used to work for them. He is working on an organ trafficking case, with links to Edinburgh. DCI Ava Turner is working with Luc on that case along with a human trafficking investigation. It‘s all sad and tragic. As if that‘s not bad enough for Ava and Luc, their friend Natasha gives them some bad news. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

“He had never heard himself scream before. It was terrifying.

Alone, trapped in the darkness and with no way out, Bart Campbell knows that his chances of being found alive are slim.

Drugged and kidnapped from his Edinburgh home, the realisation soon dawns that he‘s been locked inside a shipping container - but what Bart doesn‘t know is that he‘s now heading for France, where his unspeakable fate is already sealed....”

Bart left his job one night to meet a new lady friend at a bar. He remembers having a drink with her and then he wakes up in the dark. He is chained on his leg and feels like he is moving. Another woman, far away, escapes from a human trafficking ring and barely gets away before she is caught again. They are both being held against their will and they have something in common.

I am really starting to love these books. The dynamic between Luc, Ava and Natasha is amazing. I just love their connection. The story took a little getting into as theres so much going on but I found it really interesting. The ending was so utterly perfect and I need another book now. The relationships are written well but dont detract from the actual case. A brilliant continuation of the series. #Netgalley 4*
