An utterly charming and tender story of the disparate tenants of a Brooklyn brownstone and the community they form around their ageing landlord when their home is suddenly threatened. Within a charming, if dilapidated, Brooklyn brownstone live a family of sorts: beautiful agoraphobe Adeleine, who surrounds herself with the past; Thomas, an artist who has shut away his materials in the wake of a stroke; Edward, a cynical stand-up comedian mired in depression and Paulie, a young man with Williams Syndrome, a disease that grants him the irrepressible cheerfulness of a six-year-old. Brought together by ageing landlady Edith, the tenants all live safely in tune with each other, even if they do keep to themselves. But when their home is suddenly and violently threatened, they are shocked into action. Infinite Home is a poignant story of how a community is built and torn apart, and how when lives interweave a beautiful and unusual tapestry is made.

Bailedbailed

Maybe I'm just tired but I found this a confusing mess, hopping backwards and forwards in the different characters' timelines and I just didn't care about any of them, so I bailed

Suzze I bought it too. But when my books get overwhelming, I sometimes donate my neglected ones. I feel bad they‘re not getting read. I think this is one that got donated. Maybe you bought it? 🤣🤣 5y

#23 A book with a female protagonist over the age of 60

Infinite Home is a beautiful story about an elderly landlady that rents apartments to an assortment of individuals all in need of a #Remedy
I enjoyed each renter's story and how they learned to cope. Edith's story was the saddest of all, but I won't go into details to avoid spoilers. I read this book based on the cover and I'm glad it didn't disappoint. #AdelesMayMashup @vkois88 #Readharder

Ah, my first audiobook of the New Year! Cannot wait to start it today! Literature can sure make a trip to the bank more substantial.

I fell for the characters and was sucked in by the drama. Though Alcott writes slow and exquisite, there is a plot going on--an enjoyable, unpredictable plot.

I do have to admit there were a couple things that left me confused as to what happened, even after carefully rereading these parts. I guess this was just me, because I didn't see it mentioned in other reviews....

Alcott is a word master. I'm reading this one slow, exploring how she puts together sentences.

I really enjoyed this tender, melancholy story about the oddball tenants of a brownstone in NYC, and how the dementia of their landlord affected them all. The first half was stronger as the characters and the dilemmas they faced were fleshed out, but the book as a whole was enjoyable. #recommendsday

What a fantastic story! I got seriously caught up in the lives of this random assemblage of characters as they rallied around their landlord and each other at this crucial time in all their lives.

Megabooks I enjoyed it, too! Really great storytelling. 8y

Woke up early and treated myself to a latte plus some pleasure reading. So far, Alcott is drawing these incredibly vivid characters for me. As someone who loves this sort of writing style, I read 15 minutes past my break time! Oops! Was only five minutes late to my first meeting of the day. 💫

Infinite Home revolves around the spaces we carve into the world and call home. About how they reflect our personalities and take shape accordingly, but also how they might end up shaping us. They can provide comfort as well as turn into prison cells. A beautiful book with quite wonderful prose.

Summer means more reading time. Thus I mix things up by reading comics and novels side by side. I've loved The Flash since early childhood so I picked up the first three volumes of The New 52 at the library. Infinite Home has me intrigued just by the back page description
