I remember reading this short story in 7th grade and thinking how odd. I‘m staying at a casino hotel and started walking their well lit perimeter and 1000 steps short of my goal got stopped and was asked to stop walking and go inside. I started at 10 pm but it wasn‘t like I was stopping to look in people‘s cars ya‘know. “It looks creepy.” Is the reasoning I got. Which is funny because drugs get dealt in casinos all the time, money laundering, 👇🏼

Reggie and they went for the Walker. Lol anyways, it all just made me think of this short story. 2y
vivastory I have Bradbury's stories on my list of books to look for when I go book shopping tomorrow. I was a smoker for several years. The stories I could tell of being accosted by security and cops at night while smoking outside...& I'm white. Can only imagine what it's like otherwise. 2y
Reggie @vivastory I‘m trying to be nice about it and turn it into a horror story that I‘m too lazy to write where the security knows of the skinwalkers who strike at night cause in NM if you‘re at a casino it‘s on a reservation. And the Walker doesn‘t heed the warning and gets killed. But the mad part of me knows it‘s small people just trying to flex the small power they have. 2y

DivineDiana So sorry that your walk was disturbed. I hope an apology was given. Your horror story idea is a good one. ❤️ 2y
Megabooks Wow. I can imagine being afraid to go out at night because I‘m a short woman who often travels alone, but because I‘m a white woman, I haven‘t received that type of harassment. I‘m sorry. 2y
Centique Holy shite. That sounds like something from a dystopian novel to me and yet I know that dealing with that crappiness is the reality for so many … Kia kaha my friend, and keep walking ✊ 2y

"There was a good crystal frost in the air; it cut the nose and made the lungs blaze like a Christmas tree inside; you could feel the cold light going on and off, all the branches filled with invisible snow."

susanw I love Bradbury, he's one of my favourites. 9y
djm001 A lot of his writing resonates with me. Definitely one of my faves as well. 9y
