Light & engaging Regency romance with likable characters & a story I was quickly caught up in even though I didn‘t realize it‘s 3rd in a series when I signed on the book tour.😞Have I mentioned I hate that?!) Elizabeth, a young unwed mother is heading to start over with her young son when her coach overturns because of a highwayman. She wakes up to find Adrian is a Lord & a spy for England & they marry to protect their secrets & solve a murder.⬇️

DebinHawaii ... My bookish dish is Oatmeal with Cinnamon-Apple Compote & my review & the recipe are on my blog: http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com/2020/06/the-book-tour-stops-here-review-of.ht... 4y

So fun!! This story reminds me of Jane Austen‘s stories with the added bonus of mystery and a little bit of suspense. This is a marriage-of-convenience where romance between Adrian and Elizabeth comes after they are married. While they have a large gathering at their home, someone dies and murder is suspected. The attention to details (Regency era clothing, decor, manners and social norms) was great!! I‘m SO ready to read more by Abigail Wilson.

iread2much Ooo, this sounds like fun! I am not normally a mystery person, is this a “who done it” focus or is the mystery more of a back drop? 4y
intothehallofbooks @iread2much The mystery is definitely at the forefront. Like: Who killed ___ and why? It isn‘t gruesome or gritty at all, but there‘s definitely some sleuthing going on. 4y
iread2much @intothehallofbooks thanks so much for letting me know! 4y

Finished Satay‘in Alive Satay Soup with Tofu & Chickpeas, a vegan soup I put together from the Satay‘in Alive seasoning blend I received from @BookClubCookbook It‘s like Indonesian satay in a bowl. Easy & delicious & if you don‘t want to go online & buy the spice blend (they are donating proceeds to a couple good causes right now) you can blend your own. The book is for review this week. Good so far but I‘m bummed I didn‘t know it was in a series.

This was third in a series, and while I was able to suss out most of the backstory, it probably would have helped to read the prior two. While the mystery, which involved a murder and traitors/espionage, was a bit too convoluted and slow, I did enjoy the main characters of Adrian and Elizabeth. I felt their marriage of convenience story as well as their slow growth, both as individuals and as spouses, was more absorbing than the mystery element.🔻

robinb I would probably rate this more between a pick and a so-so. And while yes, I would go back to read the previous books, I‘m in no hurry to do so right now. 3.5/5⭐️ 5y

Thanks to Netgalley for the e-ARC in return for my honest review.

Wow! What had I just read?!!! Filled with murder, mystery and romance, it‘s a first for me and I‘ve so enjoyed it 😘 Captivated me with the tug and pull scenarios, rightly paced and now adding Abigail Wilson on my favourite authors list! There were moments I find unfavourable especially Elizabeth‘s doubtful mind but overall it‘s a lovely read 🥰
