These were light, fun, a little spicy historical romances. Perfect for when I could focus but wanted to read and everything will work out in the end.

Another super-belated review—I read this back in August.
This is Heyer, so of course it was a delight. Ancilla, companion-governess and at 28, “too old” to consider romance didn‘t factor “the Nonesuch” into her plans… The two leads are as likable, witty, and intelligent as Ancilla‘s spoiled charge, Tiffany, is annoying. The misunderstanding in the middle is far too easily resolved, but I liked the characters too much for me to be put off by it.⤵️

Such a fun witchy 🧙♀️ book with a pirate 🏴☠️ hero! It‘s a romance story where we get to be with the couple after they‘re married! I even caught a couple POTC references ☺️ “No, I married a pirate.”
My book club pick, with discussion on Saturday 10/25/25.

Started this #audiobook on #hoopla!
My pick for October 2025 book club. 📕
I‘m in love all ready! Swarthy “Spanish-ish” pirate 🏴☠️ who may have inherited a title. A “glamoured” lady who is trying to adhere to the Ton‘s rules, while resisting the urge to use her witchy 🧙♀️ magic. Sparks are flying already and they‘re each drawn towards the other. How will they defeat the watery “beastie with squirmers?!” 🦑

#bookhaul! Yes, again 🙈
They were all on sale and I had a gift card, but I don't need to defend myself here, right?
That said, I've acquired more this year than I've read so far, so I think I'll slow down a bit. Not going so far as to say I'm on a book buying ban though. Let's not get carried away!
I really need to reread The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting; it isn't necessary for understanding/enjoying this book, but it'd have enhanced that last chapter at the very least.
I love Cassian. He really should've told Daizell the truth, but... they work it out, and he figures out how to be much more of a person. It's quite the journey.

Almost every time I read a new Heyer I decide it's up there as my favourite! This one isn't quite as funny as Sophy, but I think it shades it for romance - Sir Richard's declaration made me swoon.

Thanks to @LeeRHarry for pointing out my error on my last post - this is now correct!
Best book of #August. @Catsandbooks
