Night Vision
Night Vision: Magical Photographs of Life After Dark | National Geographic
2 posts | 1 read
Celebrate the beauty of the world after dark-from starlit skies and glowing city streets to exquisite nocturnal creatures and the wonders that emerge after sunset-with this amazing new book from National Geographic. The world is a different place after dark, and this magnificent photography book illuminates the mesmerizing realm of all things nocturnal. After dark, the light is different; there is an unspoken intimacy; new and different activities occur. And in the natural world, an unseen universe comes alive. Page after page of vivid photos explore the many nuances of night vision-from the sea by moonlight to night markets in Laos to the face of a child lit up by a screen in a darkened room. The range of images is breathtaking- A smoky jazz club. Flowers that bloom only at night. Phosphorescent fish. Lions photographed with infrared cameras. The Eiffel Tower, all lit up. Faces around a campfire. A stadium lit by floodlights. Earth from space. Elegant, sexy, and a little mysterious, this richly illustrated book is a stunning pathway to some of the world's most captivating sights.

A busy day today but while relaxing to baseball, I picked this up and read/looked through it.

There was some great quotes about the night and the photos were from all over the earth.

Really enjoyed spending time with some great photography of the night!

I was able to make a quick trip today to Book People and got a little haul. I‘m still using my holiday gift card. 😊📚. The bottom two are very slightly damaged, and so were 1/2 off. The top two are what I went in looking for.

@Mitch I‘m finally making time to buckle down and find the things I really want to see on my extra days there 🤣. I‘m about to fill this travel guide with page tags!

Mitch Yes!!! Page tag it all! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 5y
Hooked_on_books I‘m so excited for you! What a cool trip. When are you headed over? 5y
Soubhiville @Hooked_on_books I leave March 25th. The weekend will be the #LitsyReadingRetreat in Wales, then 4 or 5 days in London 😊. I‘m still undecided about a day trip to Stonehenge. 5y

Hooked_on_books Sounds amazing. I really liked Stonehenge. I‘m not a religious person, but it felt like a special place to me. But I‘ve heard other folks saying to skip it, so I don‘t know which way you‘ll fall. There‘s so much to do in London (the Tower is really interesting and there‘s lots of famous literary folks buried at Westminster). Plus the British Museum is incredible. It‘s been years since I was there. 5y
Soubhiville @Hooked_on_books I‘m glad to hear what you liked 😊. I think I‘d love Stonehenge, but Maelstrom would like to see it too so I may wait for a trip we can both make there. 5y
JeffyRoo If you can, stop off in Avebury on your way back from Wales. The stones there are much more accessible and the circle much larger. 5y
Mdargusch I‘ll be interested to see where you go while in London! I am heading there April 12th with @Reviewsbylola @emilyhaldi and @Meredith3 to visit @Annied We always make a trip to Persephone Books! 5y
