It‘s been a while, just wanted you to know it was a very dramatic end to my 2022 reading challenge and I barely made it. Obit was incredible. I read two books of poetry, a graphic novel, and Sam Irby‘s essay.

This was very good. The poet deals with grief.

This feels like cheating, but I lucked out and you drew a number I had assigned to a book of poetry
Wowowow. These poems are written mostly as obituaries. Chang tells of her parents deaths and the hundreds of little deaths we witness and experience before the big death. Death of confidence, hope, certain abilities, etc. she also has poems as if talking to her children about how she wants to be remembered. Simply: a beautiful introspective look on mourning and surviving grief ❤️
Great collection! This book reached me at a perfect time for this type of book making it a great experience.
“The sound of the wind through the trees is called psithurism. There‘s no word for the translator of wind. If the wind is words, the trees are exclamation points. The spears of moonlight, question marks.”
I really enjoyed this poetry collection about dealing with her mother‘s death and her father‘s devastating stroke. They are mostly written in the form of obituaries to the people and things in her life that were irreparably changed by those two events. 5⭐️
