George W. Bush makes between $100,000 and $175,000 per speech. He came under criticism in 2012 for charging $100,000 to speak at a charity for wounded veterans who lost limbs in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, wars for which he was responsible.

A few days after leaving the White House, he and Michelle spent ten days on Virgin CEO Richard Branson's private Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands. It costs more than $40,000 to rent the whole island for a night and $25,000 to stay in a villa for a week.

She had long been ready to leave. At the 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner, President Obama had joked about someone jumping the White House fence the week before. It must be nice to not have a conscience.

On his last flight on Air Force One, Lyndon Johnson made sure to keep blankets, towels, and anything he could get his hands on bearing the presidential seal. Somehow he absconded with the president's chair, which had been bolted to the floor.

This is a really good and interesting look at what presidents do after they finish their terms, how they get on with each other - and how Donald Trump fits (or seems not to) into the club. Worth a read - and not as depressing as the Trump presidency books tend to be.
