Not life changing but very fun!
This book offers up viewpoints on everything pop culture from sisters born 14 years apart, placing them in two differing generations, thus the title X vs.Y. As someone who identifies with both X and Y, I am indeed its target audience. In fact recently, a new microgeneration coined Xennials came out that perhaps suits me best, but I digress. Anyway, I love analyzing pop culture nostalgia, so I expected to love this. It was ok, but nothing special.
My next read is going to be a little different than the typical stuff I teach for. All in the name of #litsyatoz #letterx
I'm going back & posting reviews of the rest of the books I finished this year! This was cute & funny, but dripped w/ upper west side privilege which I found a bit annoying. Plus I wasn't going to get as much out of it bc while I am Gen Y my 90s childhood didn't have as much pop culture in it bc of my parents rules about TV & being homeschooled, so I just can't relate to trying to one-up my elementary school friends with the newest fashions... 🙃
Being born in 1977, I'm a Gen Xer right on the cusp of Gen Y. This book brought back so much nostalgia for me from both generations. I liked the back and forth narrative between the two authors and how they were able to weave their opinions and experiences together.
#24in48 #readathon
I woke up a few minutes ago, ready to get started on the #24in48 readathon. I took a quick #shelfie and I look a bit crazed (lol) but I'm sticking with it because I have not mastered the art of the selfie. I couldn't get our full wall of bookshelves into the shot as they are 13 feet wide and 7 feet tall (built out of oak by my husband). We still have at least 200 more books that won't fit on these shelves 😂Happy reading!
