On Stranger Prides
On Stranger Prides: A Pride and Prejudice Novel | Amy Cecil
3 posts | 1 read | 7 to read
AUTHOR's NOTE: Please read before purchasing this book. This book is written for mature audiences. This is a "what if" book. It is not Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. This story is NOT cannon. If you are looking for that type of book, then perhaps this is not the book for you. If you are not, then please continue ... Separated by prideful airs and prejudiced assumptions Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are convinced they will never see the other again ... until, eleven years later; fate sets them both on a different course. Elizabeth Bennet After receiving the most insulting proposal imaginable from Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet vows to loathe him for all eternity. Years later, now a widowed duchess and raising her son, the Duke of Grafton, Elizabeth embarks on an adventure with her son and father to the West Indies. Fitzwilliam Darcy After enduring a scathing condemnation of his character by the only woman he would ever love, Mr. Darcy decides he must disappear from society. With the help of his cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Darcy secures a ship and crew and sets sail on the open seas. Mr. Darcy's life takes such a turn that even his closest relative would not recognize him or his new identity as Max Sterling, Captain of the Absolution. When the pirates of the Absolution attack the Duchess' ship, Captain Sterling receives the shock of his life when he spots the beautiful duchess and realizes that they share a connection, albeit one that was abandoned eleven years ago ...

Pickpick

Imagine: after Lizzy rejected him, Darcy decided to give up everything, disappear from English society, and become a Robin-Hood-of-the-seas, super sexy pirate, doing it all for charity? And then—stay with me here—Elizabeth married a Duke who conveniently dies, leaving her the widowed mother of a young Duke, and then, 11 years after the proposal, Lizzy and Pirate Darcy meet on the high seas?

Ridiculous? Yes.

Delightful? Absolutely.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

sprainedbrain I mean, this isn‘t the best writing, but at least it‘s readable without a thesaurus and still has some tolerably hot sexy times. I read it in one sitting and I‘m not mad. 4y
Smarkies That premise is 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 4y
sprainedbrain @Smarkies honestly, it‘s 🦇💩🤪, but I have to respect this author‘s steadfast determination to turn P&P into a swashbuckling romance. 🤣 4y

ravenlee I...I did ‘t know I needed this in my life. No amorous aqueous atrocities, or whatever it was, in this one, right? 4y
batsy 😂 Great review! 4y
rockpools That sounds quite something! 4y
sprainedbrain @ravenlee No, I assure you that there are no ‘aqueous achievements‘ in this one, despite the pirate ship setting. 😂 4y
Chrissyreadit I love your review! 4y
meghathecloud 😂 'still readable without a thesauras' is a great standard for these retellings! 4y

@rubyslippersreads pointed out the tagged book to me.
This is another Darcy pirate book that‘s on my TBRrrrrr. (Not in Litsy)
With the #PemberLittens I think I‘ll tackle these books!

DebinHawaii And don‘t forget this one: 🏴‍☠️ 5y
marleed I know Lari. Her mom is my bff and we were each other‘s maids-of-honor in our weddings! (edited) 5y

CrowCAH @marleed that‘s amazing! Love the personal connection you have! 5y
CrowCAH @marleed I finished Mr. Darcy‘s Ship; it was an arrr-mazing retelling of my favorite novel P&P! She captured the essence of the novel and rearranged it in a most pleasing manner! 5y
marleed @CrowCAH Ohhh sweet! Can I text her with your comment? She will love it! 5y
CrowCAH @marleed yes, please, do! 🥰 5y

rockpools That‘s some retelling! 5y
CrowCAH Added to the TBRrrrrr! Maybe this “pirate” nautical book will be okay. I‘ve had thoughts to write my own pirate P&P novel! 5y
rubyslippersreads @CrowCAH I have no idea if this is any good, but I‘m sure yours would be better. ☠️ 5y

CrowCAH @rubyslippersreads aww thanks! 🥰 I read the book I tagged in this comment, I didn‘t like the way they portrayed Darcy as moping and drowning his sorrows in alcohol. 5y
Clare-Dragonfly The blurb is so badly written I shudder to think what the book is like 😬 5y
sprainedbrain I‘m snatching this one! Also I‘m 😂 at @CrowCAH and her TBRrrrrrr! 5y
CrowCAH @sprainedbrain aye, what other kind of to be read shelf would a pirate have than one with a lot of Rs?! 😂 5y
