Show us your #librarycard Since @PaperbackPirate had to replace her card after a wallet theft 😟I commented about my Phoenix Bird library card. Tempe is pretty obvious, Phoenix bird for Phoenix,Scottsdale had several to choose from so took the classic cowboy sign one. Glendale has several to choose from of course I‘ll choose a cat!🐈

Ruthiella The best book collection ever! Behind the card are literally hundreds of thousands of books! 7mo
PaperbackPirate 😍 Thank you for sharing your cool library card collection! 🐦‍🔥 7mo

I went to the Solstice celebration at the main branch of the library. The building illuminates in a wonderful way,the sun creeping down the west concrete wall of the building shedding a line of light along the carpet. As the sun moves, the west wall darkens & the light creeps up the east concrete wall. This day in 1898 , 14 women start the first Phoenix Public Library in an office building downtown, this poster created by a letter press at library

bnp What a great event! 1y
PaperbackPirate Seems like I‘m out of town every year! Glad you got to go! 1y

Don‘t come to Phoenix in the summer. When the low is in the 90s , it is enough to push you over the edge.

AlaMich OMG!! 4y
CrowCAH Wow, that‘s SUPER HOT!!! 4y

Amiable A friend of mine lives in Glendale, just outside Phoenix. She was gobsmacked when I told her that your Arizona temps are 10 degrees higher than where my Marine son is currently deployed in the desert in Saudi Arabia. 🥵☀️☀️ 4y
Leftcoastzen @Amiable wow ! Normal for this time would be about 104.We had a mild May .I‘ve lived in Az.off & on , last summer was the worst I‘ve experienced.Last year , there were 6 days over 110 in MAY.Since I like San Francisco temps I‘m unhappy most of the time.😂Key is getting stuff done early, read in front of the fan & not move. 4y
Leftcoastzen @Amiable and hoping your son is safe on his tour . 4y
Jas16 There is no way I could handle that heat. 4y
The_Penniless_Author Yikes! Thanks for reminding me why I live in Vermont 🤣 4y
Amiable @Leftcoastzen Thanks! 🙂 4y
MicheleinPhilly Oh hell no! If the temp hits 90 in Philly, I turn into a massive CRANK. Although at least yours is a “dry heat.” Stay cool! 4y
Hooked_on_books I lived in Phoenix for a couple years in the late 90s. I definitely wasn‘t a fan of the heat. It felt to me like when you get too close to the oven when you open it and it feels like it sucked all the moisture out of your lungs. But I did notice 90 there didn‘t feel as hot as 90 in other places. 118 sure did, though! 4y

Obviously this postcard is older than I am , but I did go to & do miss what was the main branch of the Phoenix library system, great modern building , fantastic light , tiered levels & blonde wood everything, shelves , tables. Not sure when they closed it , remodeled into the Phoenix Art Museum, the 5 floor Burton Barr library opened in 1995 just a couple blocks south. #Library
