I didn't find main characters likable and it was hard to relate to their relationship, but it was toxic. I appreciate how this showed things from isolated person's POV. And then how everything went toward destruction.

This was more like a drama, I started this thinking I would be reading a mystery and that was a mistake.

I didn't like the writing.

I would say this was super interesting read, this really made me see things differently.

I loved this book 💜🩵💙 I think I'll be in a book hangover from this one for at least a week or two. I'm almost ready to put it down as my favorite for May and May just started! I'm trying to remember what my favorite book of April was but I can't remember now lol! So, I LOVED this book, but I don't understand what the last chapter meant. Does anyone know? There was a chess reference but I was lost by the pic and chess stuff, any thoughts?

Picked this one up on sale in audible and boy oh boy I'm swept up in this dysfunctional, intense affair! Paul is memorized by the strong outspoken Julian, but there is a dark side to this budding friendship/ relationship, and I can't wait to see where it goes!

Here is my #WinterReadathon progress so far! Mostly Christmas books, though also a sprinkling of random books that filled prompts for my various reading challenges. My favourites include Loveless, A Spark of Light, and Sing, Unburied, Sing. Still reading the tagged.

A dark character study about two incredibly intriguing and disturbing young men — men who find something in each other that should have laid dormant. Fascinating and rich.

I adored this book. It was so quiet but still impactful and the whole time I didn't know who was telling the truth. It was a delight to see all the pieces fall together at the end.

What a beautifully written slow descent into madness.

This book follows the relationship between Paul and Julian. Their relationship is one based on obsession. Each become so dependent on the other, and the pain they can inflict through their "love" for each other that they continually escalate into a darkness they can't seem to escape.

Great psychological thriller that left me unsettled and uncomfortable, but I was consumed with it.

Two books were published with this name last year, and I accidentally checked the wrong one out. What an excellent mistake I made as this story of loneliness and obsession resulting in murder was so good. I am not familiar with the case it was loosely based on.

This book, took me on quite a ride, it is set in the 1970s and is about two boys starting a relationship. Though there relationship is not healthy in the least.
Paul and Julian, Paul lost his father to suicide and his mental health has been deteriorating. While Julian is from the other side, rich parents and an air to him that he is always in control.
When these two start to have a "relationship" it could be murderous!

Two chapters in and hoping that Julian‘s wannabe-highfalutin-intellectual snootiness goes away toot quick. I can‘t stand that kind of attitude.
