The Key to Love
The Key to Love | Betsy St. Amant
7 posts | 4 read | 6 to read
The only thing Bri Duval loves more than baking petit fours is romance. So much so, she's created her own version of the famous Parisian lovelock wall at her bakery in Story, Kansas. She never expects it to go viral--or for Trek Magazine to send travel writer Gerard Fortier to feature the bakery. He's definitely handsome, but Bri has been holding out for a love story like the one her parents had, and that certainly will not include the love-scorned-and-therefore-love-scorning Gerard. Just when it seems Bri's bakery is poised for unprecedented success, a series of events threaten not just her business but the pedestal she's kept her parents on all these years. Maybe Gerard is right about romance. Or maybe Bri's recipe just needs to be tweaked. Novelist Betsy St. Amant invites you to experience this sweet story of how love doesn't always look the way we expect--and maybe that's a good thing.

Pickpick

A delicious contemporary romcom with plenty of petit fours and macarons, beautifully broken characters, fears that need to be overcome, secrets from the past, fantastic banter and witty dialogue set in a tiny town called Story, Kansas. It‘s a #mustread !

I almost made this a pick, but couldn‘t honestly do it. It‘s an “inspirational romance” that gets preachy toward the end. The premise is cute, there are interesting characters, but a very far-fetched coincidence that had me shaking my head. Also, the MC is supposedly a great baker running a French bakery, but she only makes petit fours and macarons? Picture is love locks in Bakewell, since the bakery has a love lock wall. 2 1/2 ⭐️

Enjoying a break from our hot, humid weather to read on the patio-something I haven‘t done since May. Only in Florida would we call this a cold front, but the temperature is in the low 80s, the humidity has dropped, and there‘s a beautiful breeze. A pair of blue jays perched in the frangipani tree beyond the fence. I‘m in heaven!

Since this is a romance, I decided to use as my bookmark the save the date announcement for my goddaughter‘s wedding. I thought it was incredibly creative, and can‘t figure out why I haven‘t used it yet. Maybe I was just waiting for the right book ❤️

After going close to a year without getting any LibraryThing #earlyreviewer books, I‘ve scored two in two months. So, a break from my current read to read this and write my review. Cute cover.

“The only thing Bri Duval loved more than romance was a perfectly executed French macaron. Fortunately, at least one of the two was within reach.“

😂 Oh, we sure do love a good romance set in a bakery! Macarons, swoony travel writers, and a baker obsessed with romance. We can't wait for this release!
