The 3rd Scarpetta doesn‘t disappoint.

A serial killer is targeting couples. Latest victim is the daughter of a political figure. Is it a copycat? The CIA? Scarpetta‘s worlds collide as they investigate.

It‘s from 1992. lots of driving around. Pagers. Newspapers. Asking for directions.

Cornwell must be a chef, the way she describes the food makes me hungry 😋
I Appreciate Marino‘s continued evolution.

I didn't find this one quite as gripping as the previous two, but it was still an excellent read. The case itself has several twists & turns but it does drag a little at times. The foci for me are her interpersonal relationships with Marino, Benton, and Mark. Marino is about the only person in this one that she can fully trust & their friendship has developed. I'm enjoying my re-read of this series so far. 4🌟

I was going to make a witty play on the book title in terms of today's election results, but I couldn't bring myself to make light of everything that's at stake 🙃 I voted, have you? PLEASE DO! #currentlyreading

I can tell I‘m feeling anxious/stressed when I start wanting to read procedural stuff/thrillers/mysteries or children‘s lit. The early Scarpetta novels def feel of their time - early 90s- but overall I‘m really enjoying them. I like getting to see how Kay handles being a powerful woman in a male-dom field, her interactions with the cops, and how her personal relationships evolve.

Onto book 3 - really enjoying the narration my first time in audible with these, it's very white and the stereotypes are strong but considering it's time and place it's been fun
